This is true, and the effortless grace that these new vehicles provide is worlds different than how it was.
However, there's a certain character that vehicles of various vintage possess that make the ride worthwhile. The new V6 300 hp Camaro might be a 13-14 second car, but it takes a certain person to make the old car perform- with manual steering, leg press clutch, bias ply tires etc etc. it's a whole different experience. Almost like taking a current production limited truck and comparing it to a stick shift 1gen.
back in the day I had a 91 Chevy 3500 with the big block. it was the mag daddy tow vehicle to own back then ( it was) but you look at the specs on it and it was 235hp and 385 torque. LOL I used the stuffing out of it too, but thats what we had back then and we thought it was good
its exactly the same. you ever hear some of these guys who say their 2nd Gen would outpull the current truck and you know their mind is playing tricks on them. LOL

It’s pretty clear the “new truck smell” to you is equivalent to some guys intimate experiences. You know the ones I’m talking about. They’re so blinded by that smell they think that every new relationship(truck) is better than the last until they get burned and realize what they had from
the start treated them the best.
if I remember right the 91 Cummins was rated at a whopping 160 hp and 400 lbs ft of torque versus my TBI injected 454 in my Chevy putting out 235 hp and 385 torque. not much difference, is there. LOL
less than that little Ecoboost in the F150
memories, might be beautiful but they generally aren't so clear
I have a 2016 2500 that only has 5K miles on it because I prefer to drive my 2001 that runs like a bat out of hell....I had to entertain a customer the other day so I got out the nice shiny 2016 to drive to our destination. We were going up a grade and a newer F150 pickup (ecoboost) pulls up and accelerates in front of me. It was not a raptor. I figured I would be able to reel him in but I could not catch him. I didn't realize these new trucks are such dogs....is there anything I can do to wake this thing up a little without affecting warranty?
My 2001 would have left him searching for oxygen to breathe...I'm not used to getting yanked by v6 fords.
I think you're over-estimating the capabilities of your 2001 Dodge and underestimating the capabilities of the 3.5l ecoboost F-150.
The F-150 is a lighter truck, with a powerful and somewhat torquey engine. Why are you confused/angry that your 2016 Ram 2500 wasn't able to keep up with the F-150? Why do you even own a Ram 2500 if that's the type of performance that you're looking for.
Meh. We'll see where that eco boost is 10 years from now. We KNOW where all these Rams will be- doing what they were made to do.
Your truck weighs 8200 ish lbs and has about 385 HP.I was just surprised that a lifted F150 smoked my new '16, nothing more.

The F150 weighs between 4000 and 5200 lbs (depending upon features, cab and bed length) and has about 365 HP.
For someone that races, I'm surprised that you thought you even had a prayer. For a truck that weighs half as much and only loses 20 overall HP, not including torque mgmt, it should have blown you off the line. I don't race and even I know the numbers weren't in your favor.
We have a 14 Ram 1500 crew cab short bed 4x4 at work. Essentially the same body as my 14 3500 but in a half ton with a 395 hp 5.7 hemi, 8 speed transmission and 3.55 gears vs my 3.42. That thing is a dang rocket!! I won't incriminate myself any further .
