I do not have the puck system I have the BW turnoverball gooseneck ball system.
When I get the BW Companion I will be I think 5 to 6 inches forward of where I am am now so that may help and I will be so glad to get rid of the big chains and having to climb or have somebody else climb into the bed to remove the chains now with the companion I have have to get some little step stool to reach over and pull the pin and disengage the companion from the Kingpin.

The Companion with the puck system has several positions forward, or rearward of the axle. Also, you have hight adjustment as well. I just installed my B&W puck base and hitch. I'm 2.5 hours away from the 5ver, so it'll be awhile before I know the correct position, but it wont be rearward.

It’s awesome how adjustable it is.

I’m off to get a new, to us, 5er in the morning. Right now my hitch is setup for my folks 5er so I’ll see what adjustments need to be made.

I am putting 1” larger wheels/tires on the 5er before bringing it home, so hopefully no adjustments are needed.

A couple of us has already recommended this, but at 9 inches, this will probably add to much weight for the front axle. See if you can borrow a B&W hitch setup, even if it was adjusted for rear of axle. And see if it’ll change your mind about the cost, or just buy one.

I doubt it. I add less than 200 with my B&W full forward with 5,800# pin.

9" forward of the axle on a 169.5" wheelbase will put roughly 5% pin weight on the front axle, and 95% on the rear axle.

3000lbs of pin weight would be about 150lbs on the front axle. I am not sure that's an issue.

9" forward of the axle might induce some cab clearance issues thou.

I am assuming he is saying 9” forward from where he currently is.

I meant to say that I don't know if I would hit the tailgate on the RV in other words if I just was unhitching so to speak with it 10 that would be I think five in forward of the center of the axle I think I'm not even sure all right guys not sure but who knows I got to be careful though and I want to make sure that the rear of the truck when making turns no it's not going to be even close to the window I've already checked at the windows fine it's the the back of the truck near the lights on the corners they made hit the RV I don't know I got a friend coming over he may help me turn the Andersen ultimate connection base around I have problems with my neck so I can't lift it or you no pulling any wrenches to too hard??????

I realize my Steel rail mount Andersen is a bit different , if turned around there is 11 inches difference ,you are saying 10 on yours ?? Do this turn it around 10" forward , and then turn the adapter around thats 8" back , then you will end up about 2 inches forward, plus you are giving that trailair a better chance to work it will have a bit more leverage on it. That may also improve your ride. We talked about the shim plate between the adapter ,and the skid plate on the MorRyde hitch, don't discount that .

Ok sounds good to do that and I measured its a no go I will not be able to let down my tailgate at all even going dead straight in a line so I am going to have to get a BW Companion its just too much behind the center of axle with the Andersen I spoke to Chris Long today he is on most of the BW install videos and he said the Companion will tow way better but may put a few more pounds on the front axle which is fine.
He said I will bet you a bunch that you will be happy with the BW even since I am buying it local.

We shall see boys.

You will be nearly the same with a B&W full forward netting about 3-4” ahead of center line of axle.

Full forward with straight side of hitch head supports towards cab set in lowest holes. Full forward for sure.

Hope you can click this thumbnail.

It is for trouble shooting, so you can decide on something better.

I watched your 1st video again, and I believe you have to much play, with all the different possible pivot points.

I have it all reverse guys and I've not hooked up yet but yeah here's what it looks like and it is if you look straight across and above that wheel well there's a whole I believe that whole maybe the center of the rear axle I'm not sure but I think it is but I'll right here is just a little picture thanks guys talk to you later was hopefully I'll be able to hook up and at least drive and see how it is later.

Stuart, since you are a dealer for that hitch, can you tell me what the main selling point is. Why would you convert a perfectly good fifth wheel hitch to a ball? It is too tall for a standard gooseneck trailer to hook up. What keeps the base from actually spinning on the floor. You might look back and find that it is turned back to the original setting :)

It’s using the turnover ball coupler which is not round. It uses the same system that B&W uses with their standard companion base, prior to the puck system.

Companion has the base supported by the bottom of the bed that is directly attached to the crossmember that sets on the frame. ANDERSEN simply sets on the top corrugation of the bed and flexes as you stop and accelerate potentially causing bed deformation.
