I get your point of course no course I use common sense. That's what looks like no brainer all right we're over here at the blue beacon truck Wash over here in Burlington North Carolina on the 4085 interstate here and just take a little picture got to get it washed the about 70 bucks guys.

I use adaptive cruise also in heavy traffic, its the safest way to drive there.
The ACC is 100% alert, way more then even the best driver himself.
I do not see a point why not use that advantage.

I want a new truck now with that adaptive cruise ,sounds nice :D
Try once and you are hooked up to it, it's addictive.

It works incredible, very sophisticated. Driver just sets the max. speed and his prefered distance to the vehicle in front of him out of 3 presets. And then the coolest part is that the Computer sets your distance according to the actual speed the vehicle is going at that moment, so more distance when fast, closer if the traffic slows down, like a human driver.
And the speed up and down goes very nice and natural, it doesnt hammer down the throttle if a vehicle in front of you leaving the lane, it speeds up gently. The lower the actual speed is from the preset speed the more it goes into the throttle to get back to preset.

Its hard to describe, to me it feels like it is me myself doin the drive, so natural.

Ya, it works great, until you realize the only car on the road decided to cruise at 10 mph less in front of you. Then you look down and realize you’ve been cruising that speed for 50 miles. Been there, done that. No thanks, besides my 2019 3500 SRW Laramie doesn’t have it.

Sounds like some interesting technology to further “dumb down” some of the already dumb population of drivers on many of the roads today. Especially nice for the younger population, they can now only concentrate on keeping it between two stripes, and allow the car’s technology to speed up and slow down, while they text, watch YouTube, or catch up on the lastest drama on FaceBook. I still will abide by my original statement that it’s not a very good idea when towing heavy within a very crowded major city similar to Atlanta and such.

Maybe yes, maybe not, like all technology it can be misused. I see your point.

But let me say, when i started to drive there had been at least half the vehicles on the road then today, it was fun and pleasure to drive.
Today the roads at home are always pressed full with cars, overtaking them is senseless or impossible, from sunrise to sunset and beyond. I drive literally always behind an other vehicle and that is stressfull, have to be alert all the time, no time for relaxation in between.
Thats why i love to have the ACC that takes this load from me, even behind some slowpokes dingeling around with 20 below limit.

This is exactly the way kids are being taught to drive. Then they get in a vehicle with "dumb cruise control" and get in an accident because they aren't paying attention. Same for the country where wildlife pops out at you with zero notice and Amish buggies creeping along at 8 mph just over the crest of a hill. All these nanny devices do is dull your situational awareness. I have two boys in high school, one of them with a license, the stories I hear about his peers is plain scary.

OI know it's different but I did NOT order auto headlights or wipers. Man needs to be one with machine!!!

I am of the opinion the ACC is better and faster than I am any day of the week it doesn't get tired it doesn't see see things like shadows and things like that it's I think like a radar system of some sort but I monitored of course and I can take over immediately but the ACC works very very well especially in heavy traffic sorry guys if that doesn't fit the opinion but this is the first time I've ever used this kind of technology and I really like it wait till they have the lane retaining system the one that keeps you in the lane keeps you a certain distance from cars and it keeps the cruise on and whatever has to do really it's fantastic I drove a Honda Odyssey that had all the above features and it was just unbelievable all you have to do is supervise and monitor the system in the Honda Odyssey and it takes care of everything in it even keeps you in the lane of course you have to be careful but yes if you can just monitor and supervise and it's okay I love it.
I know in the 18 wheelers now they are all starting to get these features because there's so many of the people are crashing because of the way they are distracted in their 18 wheelers in the big trucks but it also maintains the distance from other trucks in front of it and they get about 10 or 12 or 15% better mileage because they're in essence drafting off the truck in front of them.

I agree. Case in point. I was towing heavy, uphill with cruise on, cars passing me so I wasn't paying attention when I started to catch up with them. It was this summer when I was still having my overheating issue. I had one eye on the temp gauge and the other is blind, so...Yup, Garmin and I were a bit late. As soon as I hit the brakes I knew I was at fault for in-attention. The big truck just pulled out of a wide spot at the crest of the hill.

Yep, ACC would have stopped you on that hill, I sees very far into distance with its Radar sensor.

Oh and just to mention it - no one needs to switch it ON while driving a car with that feature, it is still optional.

Another modern time feature is Cross Traffic Alert, great, love it going backward into traffic.

A lot of us have ran over the GVWRs and GCWRs ratings of Ram trucks in the past and some still do. If you want to hang you hat on a number, use the max weight ratings of the tires as a basis. Other components (brakes, axles, and suspension) are a leetle harder to calculate max ratings.

Good luck with your truck and your load limits.

Happy Trails, Ron
