Mallory Comp 250 lift pump?

When I first tried to install the gauge two weeks ago, I figured I would change the filter while I was at it. Then last night, while I was racking my brain trying to figure out what would cause this problem, my dad suggested the filter again. I pulled it out and replaced it. The gaskets looked loose, not tight around the filter like they are when it is new. I put a new one in and so far everything is working. I started the truck several times in the last few hours and it almost starts right up (starts like a POwerstroke, cranks a few times before it fires). Not as good as it was before all the problems but definately better than it was the last two weeks.

Before I get my hopes up, I must remember that when I replaced the lift pump at first and everything was working again, it lasted for most of a whole day. I'll have to wait and see.

Thanks guys for keeping me sane.

Jeff... I sure hope that's it. I have been thinking all along that something was amiss at the filter canister, as that is where the problems first appeared. Good Luck

I'd do one more air purge at the injectors just for grins. I did this 6 weeks after injector upgrade and was surprised how smooth the engine started/ran afterward. I'm pullin' for ya. Been following your plight and felt for you and your frustration.

jeff,i dont think your vp44 is out other wise it wont start,as i had mentioned earlier hook up the pump near the tank with an independent power supply and let it run for a few seconds before starting and see if that makes any diffrence, this way it is running full time as long as the key is in the "energized" position, having a guage would help you a lot as soon as the pressure builds up then you can engage the starter and see if things work out.
if they dont and you still are thinking of going to phord dealer then let all of us the TDR members have a chance to have your truck instead of the phord dealer. hope that works jeff.
