Anyone know what compression per cylinder should be

This is a NEW Fuel Heater and Strainer Assy for a 94-98 1/2 Dodge diesel

I mean I plan on keeping it - and like a B52 - run it forever. Afterall if it were cheaper to buy a new one - all the taxi cabs would be one year old cars... ...

I know what your saying there hammersley I would love a new 2004 but I already got to much money stuck in to the 01 I have, and even if I could afford a new one the dealer isn't going to give you what you got stuck in to it and if you leave it on there them some smoe will buy the truck from the dealer and wind up killing the engine within a week, because they probably don't have any commonsense.

I also hate the fact of having to re buy all the BOMBs to put back on the new one. I'm happy with what I got, and I'm going to keep it till the end.

Vehicle Life

Just recently read an article regarding ALL the vehicles on the roads today.

The article reported that the average vehicle on the roads today are 8 years old!

I hear yeah! Mine will be paid off in 8 months!Oo. I've decided that I'm over the fact that I should have bought an extended cab, and that I can't do anything about it without losing gracious amounts of $$$ Eventually I may do like EEP and have mine stretched..... I like the idea of a TRUE 4-door long bed 2500!:D Oo.

Like minds.....

I guess you could say there are some of us who bought the truck to see how long we could make the cummins perform for us. I know I will fall way short of the million mile trucks out there, but I plan on still being behind this steering wheel ten years from now.

I am with you on keeping the Ol' girl... I like new stuff, but I REALLY like keeping my old stuff. I buy new and keep my vehicles at least 10 years. I really suspect the body will fall off around the Cummins (at least I hope so!)

As for the 8 year average... . Check out my link in my signature to my other pass time... ;)

I had my '99 paid off a year ago. I get really attached to stuff that's paid for. The thought of going into payments for another 4 years is just downright depressing. However, wifey wants to move from our bumper pull travel trailer to a 5th wheel. Grandkids have entered into the pix, so need to come up with some room for them. Looks like an additional truck is in my future. It's a good thing my customers support my hp and diesel addicition. Don't know about brand new on this next one. We will have to see how hungry for sales DC gets after the first of the year. Can it really be that since '99 there is another 100 hp and 200 ft/lb torque under the hood?

I love my 01 got to much invested to trade off now. Next week i'm upgrading my slush box to a dtt also some dd2s no turning back now. If I had it to do all over again I think I would have gone with a 3500 6 speed 373s dually

This truck should last me until I'm dust in the wind

I don't believe 3. 73 were ever offered in the second gens. Only 4. 10's and 3. 55's or 3. 54 depending on the years. 3rd gens have them though.

This is why JyRO is so ssssllllllooooowwww....

When I bought my truck, I planned on having it for at least 10 years. I've had it for over 4 years now (57k miles) and it still seems new to me. And since I bought it, I told myself I was going to keep it in the kind of shape that would help it sell quickly and easily if I changed my mind. Along with that came the thoughts of loosing whatever money I put into it along the way. So I've been real slow and bought items as cheaply as I could. I've got about $750 into mine. That includes:

Bed mat - $125

RV275 injectors - $100 used from TDR

EZ - $475 new

MEK - $50, new from a TDR guy who couldn't use his.

I paid mine off in April '03. I've already saved enough money to pay off my 4Runner, but just decided to hold on to my cash for now ... and that cash has grown. Now I've got a whole mess of cash. I'm looking at moving from MI. to AL. in a couple months and may need that cash for the next house or something.

Could I afford a new one? Heck yeah! Will I? Heck no. Mine's doing nothing but helping me save money, and doing everything I want it to do in the meantime (towing mass and hauling a$$) :D . I'm making about as much h. p. as the stock clutch can hold. Why mess with a good thing?

If the new 600 Cummins tows as well as mine does now, you know what bombs I'd add to it? Probably none. Who knows? I wonder what the specs are for the 2015 Cummins trucks?

I'm with you guys. I had a 98 and got talked out of it. Got the 01 and it has been a great truck. Still good and tight, no rattles. 100K and the only oil consumption is from the blow by. I looked at the 03s and the cost for riding around in one is a little too steep. I like them but I like what I have and plan on keeping it.

Keeping it till I fall through the floor ...

I'll be driving mine for as long as I can. When the bed is rotted out, I'll just have one of those cheep flat beds put on.

Mine is starting to look awfal mean ... dents, scratches, some rust spots, dirty ... a good commuter vehicle ... keeps the shiny new cars well away from me when I take it to work.

I will only go out and buy a new one when there is a 5500 or a Dodge/Cummins close to the 25,999 GVW limit.

The 2500's and 3500 are just too small!

Me too. My 01 has 55,000 on it and I plan on keeping it another 10 years. I really like the truck and it does everything I need and it's bone stock. The 600 Cummins sounds good but I can achieve those numbers pretty easy if I wanted too. I have a really nice flatbed on mine and would have to go through all that with a new one so I'm just going to keep the ol girl.

Just got my first bomb for Christmas, the white night backup lights!!!

I said all this to a buddy who bought a 2003 and decided to test drive an 04, and miraculously had my 99 traded in that evening... I'm a sucker... . but I shore like this new truck!!
