Somehow the lower shroud came loose.. fell part way down and the fan cut the CAT5 LOL cable. Got 185,500 on the truck but only 10k on a rebuilt 5.9 cause a valve guide dropped. I paid a shop to pull the motor... sent it out for rebuild and same shop re-installed it. I think there were a few loose ends but overall truck has been great. I think they didn't install those plastic Christmas tree push pins that retain the lower shroud.
Anyway did a lot of research on methodology. All I did was put a file against the fan pulley between the bolts to lock it and bought the 36mm flat wrench. Stuck the file there and hit the wrench counterclockwise a few times and she came loose. Pulled it out from below so I didn't need to mess with removing the upper shroud.
