cummins tensioner from geno's

Block Heater??

Valvoline still makes the Premium Blue Classic(the best oil you can buy), and it comes in 5 gal pails. Perhaps drums as well, check Valvoline web site. NAPA should be able to get it. As far as I know, all Cummins distributors stock it.

The last time I checked, which was about 1 year ago, Valvoline told me they no longer make PB Classic in any quantity, and that their website would be updated to reflect it soon.

That was a year ago. A YEAR. It's still on their site. Nice. Do companies understand how infuriating this sort of incompetence it is for potential customers?

Am I missing something

AMSOIL still markets the CI-4+, and is readily available.

I am sure Amsoil is great for some drivers but in my case I at the present seem to be only putting 3 to 5000 miles on my truck yearly so at present I am changing my oil yearly. I looked and the amsoil chart, the way I read it it recommends at least changing oil yearly.

Long story short Amsoil not right for me, Am I missing something??

Thanks

Delo 400 CI4+

Just called the Chevron distributor in Seattle and Delo 400 CI4+ is still available in 5 gal & 55 gal quantities. Is this a regional problem?

Nope nation wide

Changes for the newer trucks mandated an oil change and the new product hit the market and packaging went away for the CI4. They said lack of demand and outlets won't carry both types, but the distributers do. One just has to look for it. Try NAPA. Maybe your friendly JD dealer. Some guys have had luck there.

Valvoline does till make CI_4+ CI-4 CH-4 CG-4 CF-4CF/SL P B Classic 5gal part # 591839 55 gal drum # 591838 Thes are Valvoline part # THE VISCOSITY INDEX P B C 135 REG P B IS 134 THE P B EXTREME 170 VISCOSTY CJ-4 CI-4PLUS CI-4 CH-4 CG-4 CF-4 CF/SL They still rum this about once a year that was what I was told about a year ago.

1st gen diesel oils

Guys, I have a 97 2500 AT with 485K miles on it. I have used the Amsoil HDD 5w-30 or 15w40 oils in this and other diesels since 1992.

These are the oils for pre-2007 engines which do not have DPF's.

Amsoil has made their 15w-40 marine diesel oil for more yrs than I remember.

Used it first in my 92 F350 ford. I now use the 5w-30 in my RV with the 8. 3L cummins, and now in my 97 5. 9L cummins. Runs cool, does everything a synthetic should, and I'm getting 22mpg's with the p-up unloaded. I change it once/yr. and filter the same( donaldson/amsoil). Has all the properties you need for our yrs of p-ups.

Has anyone tried this oil?

Looks like the 7000 series has the diesel market covered. It states: SUPREME 7000 exceeds the warranty requirements of all engine manufacturers, including Cummins, Cat, Detroit Diesel. PowerGuard 93K218K and Mack EO-O Premium Plus-07 specs as well as all car makers' specs.

I have a local dealer here that I have been talking to and may try this oil in the near future.

This oil is a "Para-Synthetic", meaning it uses a a "Hydrotreated & Hydrocracked" Group ll Petroleum base stock "blended" with a Synthetic Group lV PAO base. Yes it will meet the specs of the major engine builders, just like most other Diesel oils.

Exactly. You need to look at the Schaeffer's 9000 or 9001 series to be more comparable to the Amsoil 15-40 HD AME Marine Diesel.

Major differences I see... the Amsoil has a little higher zinc and phosphorous content. Amsoil is a true 15w-40 synthetic and CI4. The Schaeffers is 5w-40 and CJ4. However, the Schaeffer's has its friction fighting ingredients... penetrol and moly or something?
