I made a switch to a 2002 HO last month after having been a Chevy diesel guy for quite some time with careful mods. I saw "TurboMaster" banner ad just now and want to tell you Dodge boys about that thing. Those of us with Chevy mechanical turbo diesels have bought thousands of them. They eliminate the "orifice" game on your Cummins turbo control with a mechanical adjustment instead, giving you a very positive repeatable boost pressure of your choosing. Waaaay cool.

I met the designer, Bill Heath, of Ellensburg Wa while he was trashing Ford's and Chevies with his Cummins mods. He develops his own proprietary "performance box" for Cummins and has been drag racing diesels since mid-eighties. (He built a dual turbo 6. 2/500plus hp drag pickup). I have enjoyed his wealth of turbo diesel understanding. Check it out, Dodge boys! Quality product. ;)

Not at all impressed. What new could there be under the sun. This guy makes it sound like it is something we all need to buy because we don't have any bombing experience.

I posted a question if anyone had tried Turbo-Master about a week ago and got no replies. Guess I didn't use enough marketing in my subject?

It looked really cool until I saw the $100 price tag. I'll be a gentleman and step back to let someone else try it out and report the results. I can build an adjustable pressure controller for free from the fittings junk box.

Less than $5 for a air tool regulator with gauge at Harbor freight, it's been working for me for a year or so. You can dial in what ever boost you want: but why restrict it ( boost )??? Just put a brass plug in the housing.

Come on guys, the guy was just trying to bring his experience to the TDR. The people on the TDR have always been courteous in the past and I hope it stays that way.

Thanks Texas, I agree. Show each other a little respect.

I paid $89 for my TurboMaster for 6. 5TD and was able to "dial-up" my boost incrementally. I can imagine that with all the potential of our Cummins engines, that controllable boost would be of value. Don't you? George

I think some of your responses had a little "brandism" in there! Just so you know, the TurboMaster designer's success in Cummins mods (he is doing my 8. 3 12 valve right now) is what eventually caused me to convert to my new HO. He is one of those guys who can actually design a turbo and has a successful high-performance track record in racing diesels. He recently sold his proprietary performance "box" to a national company. He serves as a commercial truck manufacturer's consultant. Anyway, I am quite impressed with his shop. Keep an open mind here. The new guy, George

George,

Thanks for a new idea that others can check out for themselves. There are a few members out here who didn't get their first color TV until a couple of years ago because 1) it cost an extra $50, 2) they could make a better one out of used toaster parts, or 3) they only see in real life in black & white!!

Looking at the pictures on their website it appears to be a manual control to turn the wastegate into a simple valve.

Is this the case?

If so, doesn't the wastegate being in a set position compromise the spoolup by wastegating boost at lower levels?

I better get one then!! Where do I sign up? :D

Oh ya..... I don't even have a working waste gate right now. I better fix it so I can buy one of these. :-laf

I'm gonna jump in here and give my thoughts. This item looks like it could be of some benefit to some members. If I am correct it is a manual adjustment that can be set to allow the wastegate to work and boost to be limited to a determined level.

This would be nice for guys with a disabled wastegate or for the guys running a boost elbow with boost levels way out of the turbo efficiency range.

Just my $. 02 worth

Doug

As others have stated, I can see where being able to manipulate the wastegate would be handy. But many turbos you can adjust the waste manually already. My PDR HX35 had an adjustable wastegate.

And some turbos (B1 fellas) well we don't have any wastegates. . they are blocked :D

Yea Kat that is what I am talking about... . I am worried about my B-1 staying intact. I have pushed it over 60psi numerous times but I know I am on the edge. Besides the B-1 isn't very efficient over 50 psi or so.

I realize that some turbos have adjustable wastegates and that is good. What I was getting about above was the guys that don't have a means of adjusting their turbos for optimum efficiency.
