Hello, new guy here on this forum.
i have been lurking for a while, then signed up last week. I am looking for a 3500 SRW truck. Model years 2015-2018(edited this after posting).
I go back and forth between Tradesman trucks (and some Big horn, SLT trims as well) and the
Laramie Packages. The biggest item pushing me towards the Laramie trims is Both seats are electric
adjustable. My wife is only 5'4" and the seating is too low in the non electric seat for her. So, my question (and I did do some searching), is if the Cab wiring harness are universal from the standpoint that the electric is under the seats to drive the electric adjustable seats if one got them from a wrecked truck? So plug and play, or one would need to add wiring? I would get some electric leather seats and put them in if I got a trim package other than the Laramie.
So thanks in advance on any answers. I am looking forward to getting a 3500 in the near future
for us.

Robbie...welcome to the forum..I am sure others will chime in with some information. I am not sure about the wire harnesses. Not sure if the Tradesmen comes with adjustable brake pedal either. I have a Laramie and besides the electric seats (heated and cooled) is the brake pedal adjustment as well, which your wife might require.

No adjustable pedals in the Tradesman.

And from what I know, the one-fits all Wire harnesses are a thing of the past. Today they make a matching harness for each vehicle.
So I've seen at the SHAP last year.

I'd choose a vehicle that has all from factory that you want and need. Todays vehicles are not so easy to change things as in the past, everything is bound together by the computer network and needs to be programmed and activated.

Thanks Gentleman, The moving pedals would not be a bad idea, I do not remember if the Wife moved the pedals
when we test drove some of the Laramie's.
Yes, to trying to get everything are I am looking. That is what I have been doing for the Truck, camper and Boat. One set of items for me, and a whole bunch for the wife to come along for the ride. Not a bad thing, just
it typically costs me more when I plan on things for the wife coming along. Which is a common theme I see in this forum, people considering others wants and desires.
Thanks, again

Like Ozy I see them as a thing of the past. When I added the bed LED lights to my '18 Laramie it was pre wired for them, but not all '18's are.. so there is a difference right there. Then there are also the differences in wiring harness for trucks with and without AUX switches.

Welcome to the TDR... buy the truck that you need and want... I added front SS, grill brush guard to keep pesky deer out of the radiator, CB, aux fuel tank, on board air compressor, air horns, and wife and I added pin striping.

You'll be much happier with all the acouterments on the truck from the factory. I'm a bit of a crip and really like my wifes 19 Ram 1500 truck with automatic steps... might be on the list for my 2017 5500.

Anyhoo, you won't find a shortage of opinions here.

Welcome, good luck picking out a truck, and Cheers, Ron

The adjustable pedals are great and so are the retractable running boards. My wife has bad knees and without the retractable running boards she would not be able to get in. At first I wanted the front bench because I am not a big fan of the center console, I'm a big guy. After getting in a Longhorn I found there was ample room. I ended up getting the Laramie but it was loaded. I do not regret it at all. Well except for what they cost but heck, its only money. LOL

... seats if one got them from a wrecked truck? ...

Full Stop! What makes you think the seats survived the wreck? Specific but not all cases of damage example: Rear end collisions can collapse or damage the seats: cracking frames etc. We just had a vehicle totaled out because no replacement seats were available (New, used, repairable, etc.) as the front seats had partially collapsed from being rear ended. Clear damage, aside of the distance they collapsed back, was the lumbar was INOP after the wreck. In other words this plan is Too Cheap and IMO unsafe: Damaged seats collapsing in a minor wreck, if you live through it, you may never walk again.

Frugal: is pricing new seats with the options you want from MOPAR parts. Further ask outfitters like Explorer Vans for some better aftermarket seats. They still convert vans and no reason they can't convert pickups with better seats. Offhand I only know of vans at the moment.

Custom order a truck with just the options you want is something to look into. It may be cheaper and No Questions Asked Warranty if a seat motor gear strips. Last seat frame I purchased just to fix stripped gears was over $500.00.

The 2018's are hit or miss for wiring as the Subwoofer I had sales "We Owe" outfit the truck with was missing all the OEM wiring harness and required quite a bit of dealer service work to "make work".

2016 had a couple nice improvements over the great 2015 Laramie that we own. Front park sense and ability to switch cameras around. SnoKing.

Tuesdak, Thanks for that insite on the seats. I would have been carefully inspecting any seat I would install if I was going that direction still. With the lack of a wiring harness and not fully thinking about the CANBUS issue, Just getting the truck I want is what happening now. I just am a old guy that likes to customize what I want, not have others do it for me. My range for model years are 2015-2018. Leaning more for the 2016/17 If I can find what I want, make the pocket book work right. Being in the middle part of the Country(colorado), I do not mind
driving to get what I want either.
Thanks again, Robbie
