Smoke control? We don't need no stinking...

Ok, I want to know ..... when an ad for an injector says it gains 100 Hp ( example ) , Is that the HP that is going to the ground or is that a flywheel estimate. I have seen a lot of adds for injectors and have narrowed it down, but want to find out from the membership what they believe to be true, preferably by dyno results.

Example, I have a set of baseline dyno numbers from a stock configuration and dyno numbers from other mods I have tried , to see what an item actually gained. EX. I put on an Edge EZ and its advertised HP (65) and TQ ( 185 ) gains were this: I gained 38 HP and almost 200 TQ. Now I am not complaining but I didn't get the full HP to the ground as I thought.

Using the above for an example, if I install , lets say 80 HP injectors, will I actually get that on the ground or will it be considerably less than that?

The injectors I am looking at are the F1 Mach series, or the Bullydog injectors.

Thanks

The 65hp advertised by Edge is there, in the lower RPM's. It just doesn't add 65 "peak" horsepower. Regarding the F1 Series, what is advertised is generally whats added to the rear wheels, sometimes a little more (i've had a few sets). I only had 1 set of BullyDog injectors and they worked as advertised, same goes for the 1 set of Diesel Dynamics injectors I had. Whether you get all of the power to the ground depends on everything else factors in ie: transmission, airflow, fuel quanity.

Horsepower claims could be based on the dyno, guesstimates based on correction to flywheel hp, or dreaming. Diesel Dynamics tests their stuff on the Dynojet and it gives just what they claim. Did for me. Their version of the EZ box, the True torque, gave the 65 peak hp claimed, actually I think it was 66 hp, on my truck.

variables can also include other mods already in place, gears, tires, correction factors... most of the reputable vendors on the site will be real close to their claim, but you gotta give them a little leeway for those factors.

I understand the leeway, and have no problem with that. I just wasn't for sure if I were to buy say 130 HP injectors if I would actually see close to that or if I would see considerably less/more. Trying to make and educated decision using YOUR (everyones) experience. Thats why I like this website as there are many valuable people that have the necessary experience.

Your HO pump will also respond with less HP with a timing box. You should use a reputable name when it comes to items as criticle as injectors. I love my 100 HP injectors from Dave Mitchell. there are alot of great people here on the TDR that sell great injectors. These newer EDM injectors sound like the cats meow. Less smoke and more HP. Your HO truck will respond better to fuel enhancements, than the timing boxes.
