I frankly have a problem with the high number of folks saying they have not had injector problems. I have been using an Additive for the past year, hoping this will help. With the low sulfur in the fuel I have a feeling that has something to do with the failures and why more people would not have injector problems. I have used bother Diesel Kleen and Stanadyne, both seem to work well. The Stanadyne cost a bit more but you use less of it per 30 gallons then the Diesel Kleen.

Well ACerf, I now have 313,167 miles on my 05 and I'm STILL on my OEM injectors. I don't know about the additives doing anything for the injectors, I've been using Stanadyne for many years, 8oz every fill up (25 to 28 gals) to keep my pump lubricated and boost the cetane. Many "out there" and, on here also, poo-poo it. Whatever !

As far as I'm concerned, anyone not using an after market fuel filter (2 micron) after OEM, ahead of the CR is asking for problems. I never installed the fuel PSI gauge that mine came with my kit to monitor filtration and time to change, I just change both filters (Bladwin's) every 15K, about the same time I do my oil change.

I've been using Amsoil for everything I own needing lubrication since 1974 and swear by it, same with Baldwin and Stanadyne. I buy Stanadyne in 5gal. cans [$230.00+/-] from my local injector shop to save $$. I buy Baldwin filters for fuel and transmission in bulk also. I do my transmission every 12 to 20K. I bought Dynamite Diesel's 50 HP nozzles six years ago but never installed them. Probably never will.

I've not had the best luck with my Ram compared to my 95 6.5TD Suburban that got me 476,000 (95 to 05) hence needing a new rig stat. So far, I've spent $20K+ from 07 forward on everything except the Cummins engine just to keep it a daily 100 mile+/- freeway driver. e.g., brakes, bearings, hubs, transmission, ball joints and much, much more NOT including, the fore mentioned general lube and filtration maintenance. At 476K, my 6.5TD #2cyl. intake valve took a dump. I hope I can get that out of my 5.9.

Knock on wood,398,000mi on oem.installed a fass 150 about 350,000mi ago,use lucas and power service additives.buy most all of my fuel from high volume stations,so less chance of bad fuel.
 
114K and regular use of additives, Valvoline ashless 2 stroke oil and summer or winter Powerservice as needed. Anal retentive about filters and change intervals. Recent Airdog 100 so intervals may change a bit.....knock on wood, still running the OEM's sooo answer is NO

Most of the ones claiming no problems also have no miles on them or they have upgraded filtration. 40-50k on an 03-04 truck, it sits all the time and rarely gets used. Until the miles get up around +180k given decent fuel there are usually few issues. After that the failure rate goes up drastically with stock filtration and lack of additives. Once they get to 200-250k they need pulled an tested so the pop presures can be balanced and the nozzles patterns checked. If not it is leaving a lot of efficiency on the table and increasing failure likelihood.

I still am using the just the original fuel filter setup on my truck. I change the oil at 5,000 miles along with the Fuel Filter. In speaking to Diesel techs they seem to think that what I am doing is more then adequate, and that putting in another filter is not really necessary. I use to change the fuel filter at 15k, as recommended by Dodge/Ram, but realized that the filter was to dirty by that time. Again, speaking to a Diesel tech he suggested changing it when I did the oil change, along with the fuel additive. Since I spend much of my time in warmer climates I am not very worried about condensation in the filter, and I have never seen any water come out of the filter when I drain the housing.
 
I'm on my 2nd set of injectors at 200K....First set went in at 145K....remans....their shot after 60K. Plan on replacing this fall with 100 horse brand new units....Prices are going down on CR injectors now that their commonplace....what I pay for new ones now (100 horse) is what I paid for remans 4 years ago....2 diesel shops have told me that the extra filtration isn't really needed unless your pushing serious horsepower, still run stock filter with 95 FASS pump. I also change the canister at every oil change.

Anyone else have serious rust on their fuel rail, injector lines.....terrible...plan on replacing those this year as well.....
