I just installed new Bossio nozzles and the truck runs great. Very responsive,more power and less noise. The problem is that I now have a very small fuel leak,makes the head damp, around the fuel line nut on #1&3.

If the lines are leaking where does the fuel go other than onto the head? Does it get into the oil or just drewl onto the head?

I didnt change any O- rings but they looked new and the lines are tight. I did have some corrosion on the #1 line tip but I cleaned it off.



Any ideas on how to cure the problem? :confused:
 
I shanged nozzles in my truck about a month ago and I also got a leak -couldnt figure it out till i cleaned every drop of fuel up around the fuel lines, started the truck and watched. That when I noticed small bubbles and a little fuel coming from the #2 injector feed tube. Took it apart and had a torn o-ring on the feed tube. changed the ring and took care of the prob. I had checked all of them when i did the install and they looked good but I missed it somehow. Hope this is helpful
 
When you re-installed the fuel lines, did you oil the o-rings? I agre with LAMiller, check for a damaged o-ring, also ensure that the fuel lines are tight (~=28ft lbs). Could also be the o-ring on the injector. It is also suggested to change the copper washers on the injector when you remove the injector (around $2. 00 per washer), though I never do, but a damaged washer could (in theory) leak fuel.



Depending on where it is leaking, the fuel can leak into the valve train which would go into the engine oil. If it is only leaking on the outside, then just on the motor. I would clean off the area of the suspected leak with an evaproative cleaner (brake cleaner), dry, run the motor, and inspect for the leak. You might be able to pinpoint the leak on a clean area.



DO NOT check for a leaking fuel line with your hands while the engine is running. The fuel pressure is extremely high (~=16,000psi). IF YOU suspect a leak, use a piece of cardboard and hold it next to where you think it is leaking. You DO NOT want diesel fuel injected into your skin, it will cut right into you and can make you very sick (depending on quantity)

a trick i use is i start the fuel lines back on before i tighten the injector hold down in place. the injector can actually be twisted slightly and allow the tube to not seal good.



to answer your question about the fuel. it will go out the return on the head and back to the tank. that is the reason for the o-ring.



if you cant stop the leak by tightening the hold down nut then loosen the nut, take the valve cover back off and loosen the hold down on the injector and try to wiggle the injector. and retighten the injector hold down and then the line hold down nut.



when you are putting these back together, take your finger and place it over the end of the tube then take a 9/16 or so wrench in the slot of the injector and use it to wiggle the injector back on and forth. you can feel the tube move back and forth opposite of the injector. get it to were the tube is centered, start the line on it and then place the injector strap on and tighten it. this will ensure the tube is centered and the nut started on will hold it until you can tighten the injector down and then the line down.
