Were is there a vaccum port to hook the boost gauge on a 2001 truck.

I just put one on my 2001 3500. On the block just behind the fuel filter there is a 3/4" plug (smaller of the two), unswrew it and get an adaptor to the your fittings into and your done.

If you use that port behind the fuel filter, you may (and usually do) get gauge fluctuations and "buzzing" due to the fact that port is right next to a cylinder. The best way to plumb your boost gauge is to remove the square intake "pipe" that is bolted to the intake manifold (4 bolts)and drill and tap the center of it facing the firewall. Its simple to do, just get a replacement gasket from Mopar (about 3 bucks). You will have rock solid boost readings. If you are uncertain of where i am talking about, let me know and i will email you a pic.

I tapped the intake horn as well. It is very convenient to run the tubing up the oil dipstick housing.

EMD, I don't get any fluctuations or noise. Is the location your talking about any more accurate? If so, I may move mine. Tom

I have a Westach Boost/EGT gauge, I don't see any fluctuations or hear any buzzing.

Barry, what type of guage do you have?

Tom,

I've heard about that buzz thing before, but I just installed mine in the 3/4" port and no problems so far. I have Isspro gauges, btw.

You wont always have the fluctuations and/or buzzing. It depends really on the brand of gauge. The more sensitive the gauge, the more likley it is to happen. I have seen it happen on Autometers and VDO's. It is however more accurate to use the intake pipe since you are not losing boost to the gauge from the rear cylinder. But, what little is lost, is probably cloe to unnoticeable.
