Has anyone drilled the boss on the Jacobs E-Brake and installed a thermocouple post turbo? Does this void any warranty?

It sure looks like it was intended to be drilled doesn't it? I have the VDO pyro probe which is pretty large and I was afraid that it might actually touch the butterfly valve (I made many measurements and determined that it would be too close to risk). I therefore picked a more center-located spot on the E-Brake and tapped there. It was easy to tap and you can always practice first on the elbow that you remove. As far as warranty goes, I'm sure that someone would frown if you had to return the part with a hole in it. I suppose if you put a plug in it, they might not notice? I am very pleased with the location, especially if your main concerns are for turbo cool-down.

I also installed mine like David did. According to Jacob the boss is where you can drill for probes. Like David said I think it is to close to the butterfly.

I agree with the above posts, drill your own hole a little farther up from the butterfly. I did mine on top and it works great.
