Anyone have or know a good place to find a 49 state intake and 49 state computer or somewhere to get a computer reprogrammed. For "OFF ROAD" use only of course.

Your a looking for a programmer or performance box and intake which is 49 state legal ?? most of them on the market are

I was able to pick up a PCM though the national junkyard network a few weeks ago for $125 with a 90 day warranty. Other than that the only other source I found was the dealer for $600. In my parts the Cummins dealer can reprogram them, don't even need the truck with it, just the PCM.

I think you are referring to the CA version of the 12V engine with EGR right?

Since its for off road, defeating emmisions components may not be of concern.

Look way back in the TDR, I think about "Issue 25 vintage" a member discussed blocking off the intake and some creative machining on its interior, uhh porting! :)

You could also order a intake for a non-EGR engine. IE the Cummins chrome intake maybe more reasonable than oem type part.

You might call a few Banks dealers and see what's in the scrap bin, as they frequently offer a "twin ram" intake. Again this ala carte purchase maybe cheaper than a new intake.

I see them on ebay sometimes for $20-50. I just looked, I have a couple of intakes on engines or heads, but don't want to part with them as they are a package.

You might speak with an electrical guru/research the values that the EGR is seeking to defeat your PCM "ck engine light" feature once you convert the intake. Maybe something as simple as a resistors to fool it into thinking the EGR is still in the circuit and operating.

Art makes a good point, but I doubt Cummins could mess with the code on the EGR truck in (CA or TX) anyway. ART is Cummins messing with the DC PCM or the ECM (engine control module on 1998. 5 up trucks)?

If you are referring to 24 v. talk to Kyle or Bob Wagner (USA Dist. ? for the Mad Marco ECM).

Good luck,

Andy

Ok its for a 12 valve. I've been watching ebay but haven't seen any lately and was hoping maybe somebody just had one sitting. (wishful thinking) As far as computers go, not a programmer, the actual computer, PCM, and I'm pretty sure DC will reprogram it if you give them the VIN ( from the right truck of course ). I was looking for a spare for that in case I go backward at some point. I know people have said they can get the intakes for $60 at the Cummins dealer and was just trying to be cheap. Thanks again.
