I have been sampling oil on my bosses 05 and we have watched as the iron keeps showing up. See attached PDF. Lab lists it as moderate level. Is it high enough to worry about? What are the most common sources for this? Thanks for the help.

It's probably normal with the longer interval. I saw about the same when I ran my oil that long. It looks like you switched to Amsoil between sample 1 and 2?

All samples are AMSOIL. We did the switch and then started sampling. I switched about the same time and have gotten no where near the iron as his truck.

That's a lot higher than I ever saw... most I ever saw even in a 20k mile plus sample was about 25ppm.

Part of the jump is two fold you have a longer OCI and you had the colder months (cold weather starts take longer to get oil pumping).

Are you running a bypass? Soot got high on that one run, not sure if it would have reached the point of becoming abrasive? But you should see the other components of steel/iron and aluminum elevated too. Not sure if it might be part of the additive pack for Amsoil, but your silicon is slightly elevated too... leaking air filter, maybe leading to piston scuffing (dusting)... but aluminum is low, so that's not likely?

The thing that pops at me is that their machine is in need of calibration (the ratios don't make sense)... but over the course of two years seems unlikely someone wouldn't have noticed it sooner than now?? Maybe pull a sample and send it to Blackstone for comparison?

Don't think the issue is with the lab, I have been using the same lab and have normal readings on my samples from around the same time frame.
