Is 48re transmission cooler directional?

Hello everyone. I had to disconnect my transmission cooler lines at the radiator and Im wondering if it matters which line goes to which fitting on the radiator...they are both the same size and things got moved around so Im not sure which was which. Anyone know?

Nothing I found shows directions. Would not think it matters. There was mention of a check valve of sorts mentioned in some years. I picked 99 for some reason. Not sure what year your working with.

From my understanding it does matter on a stock set up. The intake line should be on the bottom to push any air out. It should fill from the bottom up.
On an aftermarket cooler where the intake end discharge are close in proximity then it does not matter.

The only problem with changing direction on a used cooler is if any debris is trapped and gets cut loose when the fluid changes direction.
