What kind of house do you own, and how big?

Doc's polls--disapointment

I work(ed) in industrial sales. Was told friday the company needed to cut overhead.

Never knew my name was "Overhead".

Gene (aka. overhead)

I'm in the fire and rescue business, and business is good. Don't get much sleep. As long as stupid people are abundant my job will remain secure.

Fireman

I work as a designer for a corrugated converting company (boxes, displays, etc. ) Up until about a month ago, things were the slowest I've seen in 5 years. However, the past month has pickled up considerably. Maybe the markets turning around???

I work in a semi large machine shop... We are pretty busy right now but who knows about next month. Oilfield is booming. Power generation, so-so. Fiber Optics, dead.

I work in Information Technology in a company that makes Xray security systems.

Our business is way down... so much so that they decided to 'consolidate' functions into our east coast office. I and many others will be out of a job at the end of September... I am madly looking for new work, but there are so many people looking, competition for jobs is fierce.

Biotech here in Boston is leveling off. The companies taht were hiring and building like crazy are starting to reel it in a little. I am actually contracted out through an environmental waste management co. Seems like "outsourcing" is showing its's ugly head in a big way. This way, large companies can cut a huge pat of their work-force, but never acutally lay anyone off.

Man, I'm counting the day's til I can get back into something I enjoy doing... and not in MA

I'm a civil engineer/land surveyor in a rapidly growing area (fastest growing county in Idaho). So, I'm busier than bubbles in beer !!

But... ..... I fear a national slow-down is on the horizon. Hope I'm wrong. Joe

go buy more scotch tape & Post-Its !

I'm in electrical/mechanical maintenance at the only 3M factory in North America that makes Post-It notes. Sales have had their ups and downs, though we did have "buy-outs" the last two months that have kept us going full speed. Looks like corporate management is making good decisions, we look strong.

Do me a favor, :D when you buy tape of any kind, or Post-Its, make sure it's the 3M or Highland brand. It's worth the little extra cost. :)
