Is it supposed to be a fight ?

Good morning. I've got a 2016 3500 Tradesman dually. I'm checking and airing the rear tires after the cold weather caused the pressure to drop. It sure seems to be a struggle to check the rear tires. I'm not an auto mechanic by any means, but I was a commercial fisherman for 40 years, I've worked on a few butt kicking things. It just doesn't seem like checking air pressure should be such a PITA.

Also, anyone with a Tradesman upgraded to wheels they like ? Those lovely plastic fake chrome things are aggravating, too. I know, whine whine whine. I do like the truck. Thanks for any help, and Merry Christmas to all.

Genos garage used to sell extended hoses for the inner tire. I took a quick glance but couldn’t find them. Check with your local tire store, I’m sure they’ll have an option for you.

I assume the outer are a pull to fill and inner push to fill???

A double ended chuck is the way to go. Very easy.

You want un-pressurized! extension(s) for the inner tire.

If you don't already have "pass through valve stem caps" they help a lot. You don't have to fight with taking the cap off.

Buy some air through caps I would recommend the metal ones.

Those are NICE, GY Commercial gave me enough to do my RV and DRW.

Also make sure the valves are lined up. New tires ,the techs always put them on wrong.
I go home and fix the problem myself. Its easier that way.

To remove the valve cap I use a pencil and a piece of 3/8" clear vinyl tubing. The tubing is the right size to fit over the cap and the pencil gives it some structure.

The Double Seal Flow Through Valve Stem Tire Caps looks like a good idea too.

All good ideas, thanks. That tire store won't see me again. They didn't align one side correctly the last time, and dang if they didn't do it exactly the same wrong way this time. This, after I pointed it out to the manager and he apologized. I'll send them an email, also mentioning that the four rear tires were all different pressures, from 71 to 61. Real quality work, yup indeed. I do have the angled pressure gauge and the angled end for the air hose.

You must have gone to the old Harlow tire store here in Westland. Three times on the wrong clocking and I'm sorry always the excuse. Done,
and the pressures from 35 to 75. Done, Done.
