I've been working on a full blown head porting job. Milled off the intake side of the head and have been working with a buddy that is in casting to produce a one piece casting that will bolt on to the side of the head. I've only found little info & pictures from people doing this. Talked with Comp 461 and the guys that made his set up (about $1200 for sheet metal intake). JR Adkins has done this but haven't seen it personally and seen the set up on the Cumminsracing rail. I'm working on having this set up work with all the stock injection lines and vp44 set up. The one I'am wanting for my truck will be 3. 5" inlet being feed from the top of the head where the stock fuel filter canister bolts to the head. (You will have to lose this, get a FASS!)This will be more centered in the head for better flow, but is very close to cowl! I'am going to a 3. 5 air to water intercooler so that is why the 3. 5 size. The intercooler sits where the AFE was and the AFE is going where the battery was. As of now I have the set up to work for my situation but is there a market for a bolt on side that can be used for all stock set up like heater grid and air horn. If you don't need heater grid, could be feed in stock location and just use a 3" 90* boot instead of stack air horn. Will have spots to tap for other goodies also. How many people would be interested in a take off head ,mill side off, tap bolt pattern, bolt on side with everything in stock locations and have all the brackets work also? What kinda of price range also. The casting mold ain't cheap but once the first one is done its a piece of cake after that! Give me some feedback on this guys!
