I've been working on a full blown head porting job. Milled off the intake side of the head and have been working with a buddy that is in casting to produce a one piece casting that will bolt on to the side of the head. I've only found little info & pictures from people doing this. Talked with Comp 461 and the guys that made his set up (about $1200 for sheet metal intake). JR Adkins has done this but haven't seen it personally and seen the set up on the Cumminsracing rail. I'm working on having this set up work with all the stock injection lines and vp44 set up. The one I'am wanting for my truck will be 3. 5" inlet being feed from the top of the head where the stock fuel filter canister bolts to the head. (You will have to lose this, get a FASS!)This will be more centered in the head for better flow, but is very close to cowl! I'am going to a 3. 5 air to water intercooler so that is why the 3. 5 size. The intercooler sits where the AFE was and the AFE is going where the battery was. As of now I have the set up to work for my situation but is there a market for a bolt on side that can be used for all stock set up like heater grid and air horn. If you don't need heater grid, could be feed in stock location and just use a 3" 90* boot instead of stack air horn. Will have spots to tap for other goodies also. How many people would be interested in a take off head ,mill side off, tap bolt pattern, bolt on side with everything in stock locations and have all the brackets work also? What kinda of price range also. The casting mold ain't cheap but once the first one is done its a piece of cake after that! Give me some feedback on this guys!

I offered to make the fixture and program for machining the head for a Northwest shop. I had some time to kill and an open machine. No one was interested. It was a no charge job, just send me a junk head to set up on. Not sure there is enough interest, but that was about a year ago and times change. Good luck with the project.

there's already an intake header out there---I haven't seen much call for it---the market is probably going to be small---mostly the really hardcore guys and then a few others----chris

ZZ is already selling them; they come with all ARP studs and bolts, a template to cut the head, a template to drill the head. This manifold is designed to allow all the stock brackets to be installed in the stock location. This manifold is but one of their designs, with any other manifolds a phone call away. Greg is already installing spray bars for port nitrous and water injection the manifold. Greg was the chief fabricator for Eddie Hills Top fuel team, now he has his own shop and dose work for NX and a lot of the world of out law sprinters

Oo. we are waiting for gaskets and ours will be released  ---this is the only way to make the kind of that comp461 and a few others make :--) :-laf

Let us know when it becomes available. What kind of price range will it be in? Will it be a bolt on? If it's not got a rediculous price, I'll take one. . Thanks,

Brad

it will be a nice improvement, #6 cylinder runs almost as cool as the rest and way less smoke, we will have a intake kit and modded and machined cylinder heads not sure on price yet we are still waiting for the gaskets to be cut Oo.

I thank ZZ manifold is around 1100 with every thing included , spary bars are a little extra, the side entrance manifold is close to ready , with the first ones going on a few 800+ hp CR trucks in the west

i spoke with the manufacture and it looks like around $800 for the intake kit

the cylinder modded and machined will obviously be more----still waiting on a definate price

Head

Diesel Power, Will there be directions on where to cut the head? I have a P&P head on my truck. I would like to keep it and have it modified. This looks to be a promising part. Thanks, Sam. :D

What is the benefit of this, say over the banks twin ram intake with some modified fuel lines and remounting the fuel filter?

I keep hearing porting and i do know what the benefit of porting is but all i see is that the hole intake plate is opened up compared to the stock ones, infront of the #2 cylinder.

Maybe i just cannot picture it all yet.
