My ISSPRO 2-50 boost gauge is rattling. I brought this up earlier this year. I have attempted to fix this problem many different ways. I cannot find the problem. When I accelerate hard the boost comes up (between 10-20 psi) and the gauge rattles. I can accelerate slow (between 0-10 psi) and it does not rattle. I have a 2001 ETC, auto, 4x4, QC.

1. I tapped into the 3/4" plug behind the fuel filter with a 3/4" to 1/8" reducer. Ran nylon tubing thru the rubber boot in the firewall to the guage mounted on the pillar. This was the original installation. It rattled.

2. I ran the 1/8" nylon tubing inside 3/8" vacuum hose from the 3/4" plug to the gauge in the pillar.

3. I replaced the nylon tubing. Still rattled.

4. Went to DIS in Dallas. Talked to Bryant he was very helpfull. Installed (2) different ISSPRO gauges, (1) 2-50 psi and (1) 0-30 psi. They both rattled. I hope this eliminated the possibility of it being the gauge.

5. I thought something was rattling in the pillar. Took the gauge out of the pillar. Held the gauge in my hand driving down the road. Still rattled. The vibration was in the tubing making the gauge rattle.

6. Thinking that I was picking up noise from the #4 piston and valves I relocated the boost connection. Today I drilled and tapped my air intake housing on the firewall side in the middle just below the dip stick tube. Reconnected everything and guess what. It still rattles.

I have run out of ideas. I do not know what else to check.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks
Spitty

Mine did the same thing. I made the same post and recieved this suggestion ( which worked for me ). cut the nylon tubing and install about a 6" piece of rubber hose with clamps. I sectioned mine between the intake housing and fire wall. The rubber hose acts as a vibration isolator so engine vibration is not transmitted to the gauge through the hard nylon tubing.

Lurch,
Mine rattles loud. I can't stand it. Vibrations I can handle, not rattles.

JNutter,
Tried your idea today. I bought a 12" piece of very soft hose. Cut my nylon tubing. Inserted about 2" of tubing into the hose on each side, zip tied it together. Still rattled. Thanks for the idea.

Next I am going to get rid of all the nylon tubing except for about 4" on each end. Install soft rubber hose with zip ties. In the hose on the engine compartment side I will install a fuel filter. The fuel filter installation was from an email I received from Karl.

If this does not work, I will try a different brand gauge.

Well JNutter, with your idea using the rubber hose and Karl's idea of putting the fuel filter inline worked. I can't even hear a peep out of that gauge. #ad

Lurch, you might want to try this.

I cut the 12" rubber vacuum hose in two. Installed a plastic inline fuel filter.
That is it. And it worked. #ad

I want to thank you guys for all the help.

Sounds like a simple solution for a problem that never even crossed my mind. Makes sense since the tubing is fairly stiff. I might add that Isspro has a new 0-30lb boost gauge. Its known as there enhanced visibility gauge and is #R5613. Mike Clay just purchased one and hes real happy with it.
