Did two updates on my truck this week and thought I'd let you know. I have a 2000 3500 SLT w/24v and 5 spd, 4wd.
First the "smoothie" cup holder. This thing is a work of art. I ordered on the net, came in 5 days later (over a long weekend) and fit perfectly. Black plastic, Not flimsy and absolutely no modifications to the truck. This thing is one of the best ideas to fix that floorboard cupholder my truck was cursed with. I'd recommend this to anyone.
Second, After following the threads and researching the archives I decided to get the Jacob brake from the local Dodge dealer. It was 675 retail and 573 wholesale. They had it on hand. Following instructions provided, I removed the 2 bolts to downpipe and 5 bolts on turbo outlet removing the elbow. Replaced elbow w/ brake unit and then drilled 4 holes on firewall per directions to mount solenoid, Mounted solenoid, ran prewired harness and connected vacumn lines. ran wire into cab at suggested location (hood latch cable grommet) The connector is thoughtfully left off to facilitate going through the grommet. Plugged ECM wire into 50 pin ECM connector. This is the only thing in the instructions that was wrong or misread. On my 2000, I was supposed to be able to get to the ECM connector clearly. It ain't so. Removing the 2 10mm bolts holding the fuel filter housing let it lean back with plenty of room though. Pushed the plug out of the hole easily and connected the single wire up with a click. Reinstalled the filter, Air cleaner box and the underhood is done. Inside using template provided, Mounted the switch, connected the harness and connected the power to cig lighter and done. About 2 hours with a couple beer breaks included.
Testing. At first I was a little dissappointed with the performance around town empty on Day one. Then I had the test a couple nights later, this is a repossession truck with a stealth tow lift underneath. The weight of the rig adds 800 lbs and then I pick up a car and approach rear axle GVW. I dropped off a 6% grade with a car on tow and started playing. The brake will hold my rig at 71 in 5th gear on the 6% slope all day. 4th gear holds at 53 mph around 2100 (perfect), Lower gears all decelerate to stopping. High rpms will cause this thing to work like stepping on the brake. I haven't tryed the other brakes but I'm very satisfied with this one and the way it works.
Next... EGT and fuel pressure gage and boost pressure gages on the A pillar if I can find all 3 in a matching set.
Thanks for all the information shared here.
