I'm telling you, you can't go wrong with Goerend.

I'm in San Diego and the owner spoke to me for 30 minutes on his dime. My trans was done in the Phoenix area. The drive would have been a wash. Even being pretty far away I would have been better off using him. Nice guy.

So, what is the going rate, to rebuild one of our transmissions? Kalifornia excluded.

I was getting estimates of $4,500 to $5,500 to rebuild mine stock. Beefed up it would run one to two thousand more. Ordering one thru Jasper or Certified was going to be more but you get a better warranty. So you can easily be in the 7 grand area with one beefed up. The labor for R&R seems to be in the one grand area.

Stage 1 is $4100.00, Goerend sourced parts. I had my 48RE rebuilt because I knew it's history. It had stock HP most of its life, no harsh treatment.

The Goerend package is much better than stock, holds power very well. Stage 1 uses your stock shafts. Blacks Diesel does good work and they do crate transmissions. Ashley usually keeps one ready to go as an exchange. I would compare his prices with your local Goerend install shops.

Might be worth the shipping. I think they charged me around $450 for the R&R, but thats rural Georgia pricing.
