Why did you have to post a link to that auction?! You folks know how indecisive I am!!!

That thing is really slick. He got away 'easy', IMHO. Mechanical VE-pump'd 4BT and a mechanical A518. The mechanical 4B's have a front gearcase and the A518 is much shorter and a LOT smaller overall than my Allison. My ISB has a rear gearcase and huge SAE bellhousing... this makes the engine bay a bit tight by the firewall... hence my use of the sawzall on it.
My ISB/Allison did come as a combo (with all the wiring, etc. ), but the Allison is for a 2WD application. I could convert the Allison to 4x4... and I do have a recently freshened NP241D (LD) from my '94 12-valve when I swapped that to the NV5600/241DHD. There are adapters to mount the NV271 to an Allison, but not an NP241. D'oh! I could use the 241 as trade bait...
7" of lift is also way more than I wanted to go... That ZJ looks REALLY nice lifted like that, but I originally wanted a docile/grocery getter appearance to it and with that lift - it would stick out like a sore thumb. Also, his driveline angles are pretty good now - I'd hate to think what my rear shaft would look like with the Allison AND a xfer case. Grrr.
I guess I haven't ruled out 4x4 yet, but it could get interesting getting the medium duty Cummins ECM to play nice with the Allison - especially if the Allison is converted to support a xfer case. I don't know if there are any calibrations for the Allison TCM that would allow 4x4...
