Titled as a 1948 Willy's CJ-2A, but has an original M38 tub, civilian hood and tailgate and fiberglass aftermarket fenders on a CJ-2A frame.
Rear Axle: 1970 CJ Dana 44 rear axle with an ARB air locker, 4. 56 gears and warn full floating axle kit using premium manual hubs.
Front Axle: 1978 CJ Dana 30 front axle with an ARRB air locker, 4. 56 gears, big disc brakes, and 297 jointed warn axles with warn premium hubs and hub fuses.
Engine: A Buick odd-fire V6 with HEI conversion. The motor was with the jeep when I bought it, runs good and doesn't burn oil. The number on the block shows it to be a later 231 CID odd fire from 1977, not the earlier 225.
Transmission: SM465 4 speed transmission with granny low, rebuilt by Herm the overdrive guy with a brand new mainshaft conversion to mate it to a dana 18 transfer case. The clutch is a Centerforce dual friction from advance adapters and it uses the old heavy jeep flywheel. Clutch actuation is from an advance adapters chain linkage conversion.
Transfer Case: Dana 18 with a 1 1/8" Novak shaft. A disc emergency brake rides on the transfer case in front of Tom woods long travel, straight spline driveshafts with 1310 u-joints, where the old drum used to be. Tom Woods supplied the emergency brake kit as well. There is an advance adapters Saturn overdrive mounted to the transfer case too.
Brakes: 67-71 style dual pot master cylinder in factory location, for separate systems front and rear. The rear brakes are stock 10X2 drums from the 70 CJ rear and the front disc's are stock from the 78 CJ rear.
Steering: Power steering conversion using a Saginaw 800 steering box and pump from a 1967 camaro. A factory jeep waggoneer frame mount and parts from an advance adapters kit allow the steering to use factory length jeep CJ tie rods and also allowed me to keep the round factory radiator crossmember. The angle of the column was shifted up slightly to give a little more knee room in the process, and a flange was welded on to the bottom of the column to mount and hold the lower bushing.
Misc: Onboard air compressor for the ARB's, along with a tire inflation kit. All autometer gages in the dash, including a digital speedometer for easy tire size calibration. An optima battery and late style spade fuse box and wiring harness from painless wiring. 4 Plus offroad shackle reversal kit with 2" lifted wrangler springs from BDS. BDS shocks, Bestop Tigertop and marine wiper motors. The PVC on the dash is a defrost duct which attaches to a vintage air heater/defroster/fan unit. It's enough heat to allow comfort with a soft top below 30 degrees.
Tires and Wheels: American racing rims and super swamper TSL radials 33 X 10. 50-15.
