Can anyone tell me the specs on this turbo? I can't find a website for JR Adlkins. I'd like to know the housing, the compressor sizes, etc if anyone knows. Also, if anyone has one, how do you like it?

Thanks, Matt

I personally haven't ran one, but from what I've been told there pretty good. Looks like with your set-up this turbo will work great. Quick spool-up and lower egts from your stock charger. I would recommend calling J. R. himself to get the insides on this turbo. His # is below in my sig. Maybe some one will chime in who is running this turbo.

Perhaps it is similar to the little turbo that he had a year or so ago. You might go back and search "group buy turbo" from a year back. Someone might still be using one. I believe Tcolesanti had one.

That is the one. It was a group buy. I've found a used one for sale. Figured a few folks would have an opinion since it was a group buy. Anyone that has one, please let me know if you are satisfied or not.

I purchased one of JR's little schwitzers. I could have gone with the lil 55 and JR actually recommended it but I still wanted more of a daily driver. The one I have spools incredibly fast. It is wastegated at 42 psi and I can hit that fairly easy with my fuel. It is good "in my opinion" to about 400 - 425 hp. I have too much fuel to tow effectively. It will still keep the EGT's from going completely though the roof during normal driving. Unloaded 70 mph I am @ about 650 degrees and 10 psi. I am very happy with this turbo and the way it drives. I am looking for more air to turn the 12v into a full time pulling truck. Dyno'd @ 402hp and 899 lb-ft spring of 05(#10 plate) and 404hp 849 lb-ft (#0 custom plate) in fall of 05. With the stock Turbo and the #10 plate I had 384 hp and 799 lb-ft in fall of 04. Feel free to pm with more questions.

Anyone else have experience with this turbo? How about JR Adkins turbo's in general? How is their customer service, etc? Any comments are appreciated.

J. R. 's turbo's are great, some of the best out there. Customer service is excellent. He will answer all your questions straight forward.

Hey Ron, I did a search and one post I found had a reply by you saying you had bought one. Did you ever run it on you truck? How did it do for you?

Thanks, Matt

From what I have heard this turbo performs along the lines of a Hybrid HX35 (like the Dodgezilla with a 14cm housing). I'm guessing it is a decent turbo for the 350-400 HP crowd. Above that and I think it runs a little warm.

Thanks Cooker. That's kind of what I deciphering. I talked to JR a little bit ago and he said he said probably up to 425 hp or so on it. I think I may look at other options. Thanks guys.

I've had great luck with his turbo's and customer service. Matt, why don't you look into his lil55'. Get it with the 14cm housing, it spools good and will keep your egt's down. What are you plan on doing with the truck and what are you gonna run for fuel, injectors etc?

I laid down 456hp with that turbo in May '05. Then, it blew up. Broke the shaft and sent the exhaust wheel unguided down my exhaust system. The turbo lasted 2700 miles and about a month.

Right now I want a bigger turbo to burn the fuel I already have. My job of my truck is to pull. I have a 10k+ gooseneck car hauler. With the 1. 5 injectors I have plenty of fuel/smoke, I just want to burn more of it. I talked to JR about the lil 55 and I think it is a viable option, just more money than I want to spend. I know I can spend a significant amount less for another brand for a similar turbo.

Yikes, I'm probably not too far from that hp# with a turbo and my new Smarty. I did 380 with signature mods before the Smarty. I'm guessing the Smarty would be good for a 20-30 hp# and a good turbo should get me another 30-40. Need the turbo to hold up better than that. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm running that little schwitzer of J. R's and really like it. I just made 432 about a month ago and have been running it for about 10k miles. I keep the boost under 40 or so and tow with it quite a bit. Tcolesanti blew it up because he went past the turbos limits I beleive just like anyother turbo. If not I aplologize. Ron wasn't Forest running that turbo at a high altitude?

I have no idea what altitude Forrest was running the turbo. He mentioned that he had owned one of the turbos in question, so I passed his name on as contact for first hand knowledge of the product. I purchased one of the little turbos from JR but never installed it. That is why I did not give my opinion of it.
