Tcolestani... So will we see your truck at IRP this year with your "towing turbo"?

Not IRP, but I will be at Terre Haute for SDX this year, and yeah, it will be a "towing turbo" of sorts... ... ... :-laf :-laf :-laf

RonA... So funny with your pom pom stories aren't you? I got your pom pom's right here bud! There are plenty of happy ADP customer's out there. I believe he has some of the best products, everyone's gonna have there preference.

what is it with some of you and pom poms? rona on this thread and tcolesanti on another. jr has good products. if are happy with what you have now great. im happy with what i have too. richard

ADP must make some fine turbos, or there wouldn't be loyal customers like yourselves. However, this was not one of his better turbos, and that has been pointed out. It was also not enough turbo for the person who started this thread. So gentlemen, this thread was a poster child for how the site is suppossed to work. Questions were asked, facts and opinions were given, and a decision was made. All we have to do is leave out a few "my guy is better than your guy" comments, and a pom pom here and a pom pom there, and it would have been perfect.

you are right. the turbo is to small for the orignal poster. the turbo was to small for someone else too. j. r. adkins builds good stuff. the problem is people dont praise the good only the bad. you buy a good turbo that last and no body says anything. the first time you break something its everywhere. you can say anything you want about j. r. adkins products but that still doesnt change the fact he builds good performance goodies. i will continue buy my performance parts from j. r. adkins.

I know he is a one-man-band operation, but he leaves himself no room to help a customer out after a product failure like myself.

DO you know how companies leave thereselves room to pay for product issues. They build an insurance policy into thier price. I am sure JR and many other of the one man and two man operations would be happy to build in such policies, but then you the customer would complain about the premium on the price. .

JR seems to make a good product. I have dealt with him hand and hand on a few diffrent vehicles. and even though i have not always agreed 100% with some things i would still consider him a top notch diesel performance shop, and would not hesitate to pass his number out.

The Supersonic is a great charger for the right truck. It will support 400-425 hp all day long, and run cooler then the 35. But when you exceed these limits you are taking a gamble with her. I watched JR break one and another good friend. But they were trying to break them, to see what thier limits were and how to rate it.

Both failures were due to too much power for the application.

Thanks Travis

I need to wade back in here on this post. I really don't think anyone really thinks JR Atkins doesn't offer a very good product. There are too many positive things said about his products for this not to be true. When I spoke to JR, he said this turbo (super sonic) was designed for the towing crowd. He was not offering this turbo anymore (I guess because of the issues experienced with this one), but had another he recommended as a strictly towing turbo (variation of the Super B). Anyway, I think he designed this one for a towing turbo, then the HP Junkie came out in those that purchased these and pushed them harder than they were designed. I'm sure JR isn't proud of this turbo, but does have other very solid products in his offering. This was a value based offering and even still, those that had failures still paid a pretty good chunk of money for their failure. I understand the ones that weren't pleased I'm sure I wouldn't be either, but I think I'd blame myself somewhat for trying to get too much out of what I bought. I personally am getting to the point in HP that I'm probably pushing the stock HX-35 pretty good so that is why I am looking at new turbo's. I really appreciate TColsanti's sharing his experience which may have kept me from making the same mistake he made. Thank you Tom. When I've made mistakes in the past, I've tried to share with folks in forums to help keep them making the same mistake I made.

Anyway, I do think JR offers a very good product, I just don't think it is the right choice for me for various reasons. This certainly was in no way, shape or form meant to defame JR, I was just researching a product that I was considering buying.

BTW, my choice ended up being a set of twins by BD Diesel. I wasn't planning on twins, but I found a deal on a used set and I think they'll do what I need for quick spool, egt control towing, and still having room to grow HP if I choose too.

That's my opinion anyway, Matt
