Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Juice with attitude boost question

Sorry i am pretty limited on facts right now but a friend has a 1997 2500 that he purchased that used to have a juice with attitude installed. It was torn off by the seller and now my friend gets an over boost code. Not sure the exact code but he says it affects the truck when the code is thrown.
I used to have the same chip in a truck like i this and i remember i had to install an elbow at the waste gate. Do you guys think if he removed that and reinstalled a factory type piece it would keep the boost lower. Could he just install a one of the BD boost foolers to keep the boost he has.
Let me know what you think, the truck is five hours away so i can't look at it but i hope to trouble shoot a bit if i can.

He must have 24 valve(98. 5 or newer) for a Edge. Everything else makes sense. So doing one or the other fixes should do it. I wonder if the previous owner maybe did injectors too. I saw a big bump in boost pressure when I put mine in.

You know your right that chip did not come out till 98. 5. Did the older "edge" chips have some sort of boost fooler like the attitude did. I am almost positive it is a 24valve but not so positive on the year, i will get that tonight. Thanks for the insight.

I would have not idea on injectors right off hand. I know it has 250,000 so you know the hood has been opened a time or two.

The Edge Juice is the inline programmer and the "Attitude" is the monitor for the Juice module. They do have a boost fooler built in. When you install one, the Map sensor is unplugged and the Edge is plugged into the sensor and the the plug that was in the sensor is plugged into the Edge harness. It lies to the ECM so it don't throw a code. I hope this helps.

First, the truck must be a 1998. 5 model or later because Edge electronic boxes don't work with the twelve-valve mechanical engines used up to 1998. 4. The most common cause of an overboost fault code is extra fueling from bigger injectors or electronic power adders, and/or a different turbocharger that produces more boost that the stock 18-20 psi. A boost elbow could have been added so the turbocharger would make more boost, also. The engine may cut back fueling when the fault code is sensed. You can add an electronic boost fooler such as the BD so the engine's computer does not see the extra boost.
