All I get done is flippin through the stations on mine. I'm always afraid I'm missing another good song on a different channel.

So, what do you guys that have this think of it? Did you get for status among friends? :D Or do you really like it? Would you recommend it ? I have been thinking about it, just wanted to get some imput first.

Like someone else said it's pretty cool and I do have the same problem of flipping through my favorite stations so I don't miss a good song. I'd recommend it to anyone that spends time driving in their car. The thing works pretty much everywhere. Got to listen to parts of the World Series when I ran back to the truck while we were hunting in Colorado. I had it go out once awhile back in the Gorge between Mesquite, NV and St George, but it hasn't gone out the past few times I've been through it. It works in most of the parking garages at Casinos in Vegas, but I've found the weakest signal to be while driving on I-15 in Southern CA right around Ontario. The radio cuts in and out when going under a large bridge or overpass.

I typically drive 1hr each way to work. It is all highway, but I typically stick with two differet radio stations. I can tune them in from the time I leave till the time I get home. The signal is strong. So I am not really sure yet about the XM radio.

i drive from my home in vero beach, FL to my business in columbus, indiana about every 6 weeks for 4-5 days. i like the cnbc, cnn, discovery channels etc... ... .....

I love it, I did not really get it for a status thing, however when people get in and see that you are flipping channel after channel, they wonder what the hell is going on. Then you tell them you have XM and they are either  or  , and dig it either way. I would definitely recommend it, and would go with an ALPINE radio over the Pioneer... . Alpine has better quality overall.

So with XM radio can you pick up the local stations as well or are they history? Is the XM radio a part of the CD player or seperate? How much do they typically cost?

Having your XM is like running a FM modulated CD Changer... you turn it to a certain channel, and voila! you have XM! you still have your local channels, but why listen to them?? XM rocks!

my new pioneer cd player was xm ready. i bought that, the xm receiver that goes under the seat, the xm magnetic antennae and installation for $575. the alpine is a better unit. i am not 18yrs old so i don't need to thump down the road. i like mostly the talk/news stations.

So to get XM you HAVE to change to a diff radio?? I would love it since Atlanta is all talk and trash talk at that. Radio is not what it used to be. Just hate to have to change my current stock system. .

nope, i'm not saying you HAVE to change your system. is your deck xm ready? if you don't know, go to your local car audio installer and they will tell you more than you want to know... ... .

xm with factory radio

Yes you can get XM without changing your factory radio. Just get the FM-modulated version (179. 00 at WalMart) plus 70. 00 +- for an antenna. With that unit you will get a small wired control head (about 1. 5"X 4") that you can stick on the dash somewhere. When you want to listen to XM just tune the factory stereo to a predetermined unused FM frequency, then you can change XM stations via the new control head. There is a SLIGHT performance penalty using the FM modulated type as opposed to an XM ready control head, not enough to be noticed by most people, especially since switching over to an XM ready head unit will probobly require switching out your speakers too since the infinity speakers have amplfiers built into them.

Cool sounds like staying with the infinity system from factory is best suited for me. I did not realize walmart had this stuff thanks for the info guys. Patrick

You can also get your XM radio with a cassette adapter, it is self installed with a cost of under $200. With this system you can also purchase a home unit for $70 so your Delphi radio will work in your home. THis system will also work with a new boom box as well. You can also get the modulator that will work off of a radio station like a CD changer.

I have found very little commercials on XM and the selection is excellent.

The Delphi system has a large screen, with a remote. Very handy!

I got the FM modulator kind and mounted the little screen in my new switch panel. Check it out, Im putting a lighted air pressure gauge in the empty spot. I know you guys like pics.
