Kent Kroeker of KORE is racing in Baja in the esteemed Baja 1000 race today. He started at 11 am Thursday and it will take a total of 30 hours to finish the race. He is doing something that no one else has ever tried. Racing the rigorous 1000 mile race with a stock Cummins diesel. Running gear is bone stock with a couple of motor inhancements from Banks. The class he is running is Stock Full. He will drive the entire race and have 3 different co-drivers. Keep then in your thoughts as you go to sleep tonight. As my head hits the pillow, he will have already driven 13 hours strait through the roughest terrain in the world. Only 17 more hours to go!!!

Go KORE!!! Oo.

Greg

24 hours and 24 minutes. Still no word but " no news is good news" is the approach we take. Kroeker said " Don't worry dude, You'll be the first guy I call!" By dinner I will have news. 5 PM is the expected finish time.

Kore

I did some checking on acquiring the KORE suspension. Anyone on site have one? Any thoughts

I have an '04 Ram Quadcab, 3500, single rear wheel(not a dually)

Here is a pic with of my 3500 fitted with the KORE suspension. Need I say anything else? I guess you cant see the smile on my face but it is there.

hey greg--you gonna do something like the baja in the future? Oo.

If I didn't have to work I would be in the race truck right now. I am starting the fabbing of a cage. Need a fuel Cell and some racing seats. I will start with the local Best in the Desert and MDR and move up from there.

I saw a show on OLN (I think) the other day with I thought Kent running in the Baja 1000 where he ran out of time - it was a good half hour show on it. It was under the t-rex banner. Am I wrong or is this the 2nd attempt? Either way I'm rooting for him here in Michigan - go Cummins power!!

Steve,

That was last June in the Baja 500. Kent was late to one of the check points due to repairs. If I remember right he blew out a shock and broke a motor mount. I saw the show, it was Four Wheeler TV.

It's really gotten me thinking... and the scary part is my wife is encouraging me.

O. K. guys,

Here is the scoop!!!

Kroeker finishes The imfamous Baja 1000 race!!!! He called me at 7:30 PM tonight with the results. The great part is he finished in third place!!!! WOOOOOO HOOOOO!!!

Kent drove the whole race. It took 29 hours and some change. No word on how the truck did, he was on a Sat Phone. He had just gotten off of the phone with Gail Banks of Banks engineering, a major contributor to the effort, and then he called me. I asked how he felt and his answer was... . " I am pumped!!! This is great!!!! We did it dude!!! I am going to drink a few margaritas ( I think the number was 26) and rage all night. He will probably be home on Monday, will post too!!! I told him we were rooting for him. Quite an accomplishment for a 9500 lb race truck. Cummins conquers the mighty Baja! I record time too! Amazing!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulatins to team KORE

Kroeker Off Road Engineering!!

The best part is:

He runs the same stuff he sells, WOW!

Greg

Greg,

Please tell Kent congratulations, and thanks! I can't believe he's going out partying after a drive like that.

And 9500 lb. race truck!? That's got to be a record!

2003 QC 4X4 SWB 4. 10 6 SPEED HO CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL

I think it is just like your truck rbattelle. Stock seats are gone, Dash, AC and stereo is still working. GPS is in the passenger dash, and the rest is stock. Stock Full is the class he runs in and there isn't many changes allowed. A list of racing stuff follows:

Custom KORE suspension, Banks 6 gun w/ speed loader, Fass fuel pump, full roll cage, Piers bomber lite turbo, Toyo 37/13. 50/17 open country MT's, DRC Racing Bumper, Carerra Lights, Dynoed 360 HP with no egt issues.

Greg

You need to take into consideration the full cage, spare parts, spare tires, oversized tires. It probably tips the scales close to 9500 lbs. There is at least 150 feet of 120 wall chromoly. Six tires, spare drive shaft, spare stub axles, spare control arms, ... . And on and on. We prepped the truck for 6 weeks and beefed everything. I actually think that 9000 lbs is a conservative guess!!
