Decided to change mine since I was going to replace exhaust manafold anyway.

I ordered mine from Cummins with freight and new clamps it was around 14. 00.

I too noticed the dreaded puddle under my 06 and like many others thought it was my G56 leaking but it was the foil covered coolant tube. I haven't seen too many pics so I thought I would post mine. Looks like I know what I'm doing this weekend... . this view is from underneath

Napa sells the correct clamps as well. I bought a couple of them to try and stop the oil from leaking from that annoying breather on top of our otherwise well engineered engine.

Been having this problem for about 6 months or so. I finally went to my nearest Dodge Dealer, Jack Powell in Escondido to check on availability and price for the hose. I didn't have truck with me so I had to explain what I wanted. After about 20 mins. of explaining we found the part #. The price quoted for this little hose was $30. 00. I read about the Cummin P/N and went to Cummins dealer in El Cajon. They quoted $7. 10 for hose and $1. 37 for clamp. Yesterday I stopped at Jack Powl to get an estimate for installing this hose. The service writer had to go out and ask a mechanic and he came back and quoted about $300. 00 for the job. After catching my breath I said thank you very much. I will shop around for a better deal.

Did you tell them they don't have to remove the whole motor to replace the hose wow 300$ that's crazy.

I always smell antifreeze after driving my 03 but it never is low and I don't see any leaks I bought the kit after seeing this post I always like having stuff on hand if I ever need it

It amazes me how things very so much from dealer to dealer. My dealer could get the parts for about the same price as yours but it only cost me $35 to have installed. I bought the parts from Cummins and let Dodge do the rest because that hose looks like a mother to replace!!

I just finished installing the new hose and clamps. No problem at all. The biggest problem was refilling the coolant. I put about 1 gallen in and it over flowed. So then thought need to run engine to warm it up so thermostat woul open. Still would not take any more fluid. Finally I googled my problem and someone had the same problem and he said need to disconnect the heater hose from top of block and let the air out. This worked. Everything is working great. Better than paying the dealer $300 and Cummins $180. 00

Just replaced mine. The special-order parts were $40 at the dealer. (I need to find the closest cummins dealer here in Houston for next time... ) I removed the wheel well cover which made the job possible. Since I was able to rotate the old hose but could not get it to slide up or down i just cut the old hose off. Then i realized the gap between the two pipes was only about 1/2 inch and wondered how the new hose was going to go on. I removed the front pipe bold and that provided a little more wiggle room. Luckily the new hose has a thinner wall and is very soft. I sprayed the pipes and tube with silicone spray and slid the hose up the top tube (doing so from the top of the engine to get the leverage) and then sliding it back down on to the lower tube. The constant pressure clamps were a trick since there is little room to work with them and pliers. After a break, I was able to get both in place with channel locks. If anyone has any recommendations for clamp pliers i would be grateful. Thanks to all the posters for their time to share their findings, it helped a great deal.

I am having the leak too on my 2006. How many of you went back with your old coolant and how many went back with new OEM coolant?

The 03 doesn't have the hose being discussed

I wonder what the previous years of trucks used instead of this hose? Maybe someone has a parts diagram of the earlier versions. If the metal piping did not include this hose it may allowed them to install parts quicker when engine was assembled at factory... . not sure just saying. Be nice to know though.

I had only 49K miles on coolant so I used old coolant. Funny no one had problems refilling the coolant like I did. It would not fill until I removed the heater return hose from the back top of engine and let the air escape.

if your truck is an 06 like mine. . just refill with new coolant, i used zerex g-05 like most everyone. with age and mileage on coolant that was in there,, just do it right and take the time to flush and refill. and yes take of top most hose in back, you will have a hard time bleeding air otherwise.

Bob... no different than any other hose... just need a different hose barb at the engine as they use 3/4" at the engine and neck down to 5/8".

I'd rather have a single hose out in the open over the multiple pieces under the manifold. My steel lines were almost rusted through anyway, so it needed done.

Got my hose from South Plains Cummins Fort Worth today. The hose cost was $ 8. 34 plus tax. They did not have the two clamps in stock and they could order them and have them shipped for $15. 00and thought if I do that all my savings from the hose price will be lost.

I believe somone else posted earlier and had the same problem with the clamps being in stock at Cummins. I called the area Dodge dealer and had them order and I will wait to see how much they are from them. I am going to change out the coolant since it has not been changed since new (2006). I am leaning towards the Mopar coolant so it will be the same color and protection etc. I aksed the Cummins parts man how much their Red Coolant was and he said $30. 00 a gallon... wow. Anyways I will get to the project this weekend when I have time and so forth.

Why Cummins is telling you $15. 00 is because they are assuming that you want them flown and are including freight charges.

They do engine down orders day in and day out so the assumption is that you need the parts quickly.

If you have time tell them you want them added to the stock order that they place with the Cummins Parts Distribution Center every couple of days and there will be no freight charges that way.

If you don't have time to wait then Dodge well may be the way to go for clamps, please let us know the cost when they arrive.

Mike. :)
