The stock fog lamps are more or less decoration, rather than a functional light (at least with stock bulbs), with the sport light conversion they really aren't needed for any extra light, so I am thinking of turning them into a yellow or amber running light using LED bulbs. These are an 896 bulb from the factory.

I am unable to find 800 series right angle LED bulbs.

Will an 800 series straight bulb work, it looks to me like there isn't enough clearance.

If the straight bulbs won't work, has anybody found an 800 series right angle LED bulb in amber?

I have found white and blue bulbs with angled bases and amber ones too, BUT only in a straight base, the bulbs I am talking about are about 1/2 way down the page at this link.

That might be one option, or more likely using a tint on the OEM lens.

I ordered a set of amber lamps with straight connectors, I am unable to fit them in the housings due to clearance issues, I also bought a set of white LED lamps with a right angle connector as the stock bulbs were, those work OK.

I am thinking of swapping the bases if I can figure out how to do that without destroying everything, it doesn't look straight forward.

Both sets of the LED bulbs just arrived today, I will see what the white ones look like after dark.

Follow up on my own post here. One of the white LED bulbs has about 1/2 the individual LED's non functioning now, so, looking to see if anyone has found a source for QUALITY LED 800 series right angle LED bulbs in any color in the last 18 months? I have real good luck with other LED's from H11-WHP Daytime Running Lamps Specifications BUT I am not sure what they say will fit is the correct alternative. Will an H11 replace an 896? I have an e-mail into them, however they state right on their site they may not answer all e-mail. The search continues...
