matt, thanks for the info. i knew some of it but you did answer a lot of my questions.

pete, i would love to have the ability to run both hi and low with out burning up my switch. if you can figure that out it would be awesome! mine are both 4 prong relays but im going to get another, i can get a 5 prong if you think thats what ill need.

shoot, i got half a mind to do away with the dimmer, and replace it with 4-5 toggle switches.

and this wont burn up my tilt switch on the steering column? i no if i hold the switch you can get both hi/low but ive herd that will brun out the switch. this set up is safe from that?

The trick to wiring is to use about 10 extra feet of wire for everything so you can ball it all up and tape it off under your dash so it can dangle at your feet and **** you off all the time.

haha, yea thankfully ive been able to guesstimate my lengths pretty good in the past. that dimmer is so tight up in there that i might just tear the whole dash out to do this job. i already have wires EVERYWHERE! tach, egt, boost, i mean i cant even count all the wires.

The reason holding the switch burns it up:

Our switch for our high beams is two fold. When you pull it back it activates whats called a momentary contact switch. Thats the same type of switch thats in your ignition on the start position. It provides power to the starter only while you hold the key all the way forward. Same idea for the tilt switch, when you hold it back, it provides a re-routed power to the high beams... so you can flash someone with the headlights off. When you pull it back it also activates a toggle switch that jumps between the high beams and low beams. If you hold it back, your basically shorting the system to send power to your high beams without switching the toggle switch. I bet if you have the high beams on already, and then you pull and hold the switch back, it wont turn both beams on then. I think I need to fix my wiring diagram.....

My head hurts and I may be wrong with that original diagram. This may be a little more complicated than I thought, but I'm working on it... give me a bit to think about this.

take your time matt, ill love to see what you come up with. im rewritting on a piece of paper what you did on the screen, it makes some more sense to me now, but yea i think there are a few more things that come into play here.

Alright, heres the stock set up, or my guess at it anyway. This complicates things. If I'm right, power goes from the pull switch to the tilt switch... that makes for a world of hurt...

Alright, this should work. I'm especially proud of this because it should solve the problem of burning up your tilt switch by holding it back, it'll allow you to have both on on the high beam setting, it'll put a relay on everything, and it'll still allow you to flash the brights with the headlight switch off. The only issue is a lot of this is probably wrapped up in some fat harnesses with a ton of wires... I'm not sure though.

Oops... That makes it look like the power to the low beam relay is tied into the high beam power... that should be a bridge there, not crossing like that.

Anyway, does it make sense otherwise?

hhaha, yea i got OCD too buddy :D

these are great man! i really apreciate you going out of your way like this. if your like me tho, your probly doing it more for your own satisfaction than for me, :-laf, witch i can deffinatly understad :) yea give me some time to scetch your diagram out on paper so i can wrap my mind around it. it helps me to copy yours down cause then i can follow the trail of current as i draw it. thanks man! sorry it took me a while i was over helpin bernie with some wheel links.

Nah, I like helping people. Its cool though, thats what we're all here for. Help people with stuff we do know about, and get help on things we don't.

Yeah, I saw that wheel post, I posted in there also.

Any real engineer would have drawn the momentary contact switch next to the toggle switch and put a box around it to show that theyre both activated by the same lever... man, whats wrong with me anyway?
