where does it go then?? theres not much room for foriegn objects in the pump internals, if you know what i mean. is there any way to rig you truck in a safe way, so it can run with no battery??

Yeah, pop the plunger out of the solenoid. You'll need the shutdown lever to kill it after that.

I haven't really found much on what happens to this rubber tip thing... I don't really know what to tell ya.

oh i was hoping it was somthing more simple, that i could aperate it just like always, except with the ability to have the motor keep running if my Alt. goes out.

I would imagine that solenoid doesnt take too much juice. If your alternator goes out, your voltmeter will start dropping. If it looks that low, there may be a way to hook in some small electronics batteries to the solenoid wire to keep it running... I dont know... theres really not a cut and dried set up here... .

Oh you guys! Start a new thread! :rolleyes: If you chipped the tip of the plunger, I gotta fix for that. ;) BTDT.

Jimmy, if you cram a rag in the turbo, you can almost see it come out the other end. Almost, just before the engine stops, when the pistons hit the valves, 'cause the rag is holding them open. :D

Matt, If I ever go to Racine for Case school, I'll take you up on that. I wish somebody could ship one here, so I could try it. Probably break in shipment, or freeze. :{

For the Schied diesel thing last summer I brought a keg of the stuff. If I go to any diesel meets this year, I'll probably do the same, or at least a few cases.

Racine is about 20-30 minutes from me. Drop me a line if you head over there ever.

Cool! So far, everybody but me has gone to a Case school. I go to Wirtgen in Nashville, Vogele in Chambersburg Pa, Elgin in Illinois, and schools in our other shops. :{ Lotsa good parties though, Nashville was the best yet. Except for the 8 hour delay in O'Hare on the way back. #@$%!

whens the next time your gonna be in Chambersburg Pete?? im bout 45 minuts from there.

oh and by the way, i didnt mean cram a rag in the 'turbo' i meant the intake horn. witch in either case i think your totally right, in that it would probly be a totaly disaster.

Jimmy, I don't know! I was supposed to go to Albany for a Cummins school. Oo. :D But I think it fell thru. There is a new line of pavers coming out, but I might not go til next year. :{
