I just completed a trip from Washington state to Florida. It was a really good trip and the pickup ran like a top until I was in the middle of the desert east of San Antonio going up a grade at 75 mph. I looked over at my fuel psi gauge and it was bouncing from 5 to 8 psi. I nearly dropped a brick. All I could do was slow down to 60 mph to maintain 10 psi. There was not a single Dodge dealer out there in the desert. I stopped later that night at a motel. The next day I proceeded on my way to Houston and found a Dodge dealer in katy Texas. (Katy Dodge) I was concerned that they would question my diagnosis as well as the slight mods that I had made to the fuel system. (Banjo bolts and gauge. No test ports). When I told the service manager that I could drop my fuel pressure to zero at will, he took it right in, no question. Dennis, the tech that worked on it was a true diesel head. He has a 3500 puts out over 550 HP. (I got the feeling I wasn't going to make it out with my stacks). He got my lift pump replaced, reflashed my PCM which help the drivability out all under warrantee. (I did not get the 40 psi oil gauge fix somehow :) ). He also sold me an EZ Edge for equal or less than I have seen advertised. I got it plugged in the next day before continuing my trip which improved the drivability even more. :D They will sell and even install any product you want and have the knowledge and experience to offer help/suggestions with upgrades as well. He is the dealerships diesel/heavy equipment tech. He used to work for the local Cummins shop. His old boss from Cummins even stopped by to talk trucks and have an injector looked at while I was there. All in all a totaly enjoyable experience. Aside from when it happened I am almost glad I had the trouble with the truck. These are a great group of folks. I recommend any body traveling through Houston on hwy 10 to stop if they have trouble or just want some upgrades done. Excellent service at very competitive prices. I guess that is what a real five star dealer is. Oo.

Both Dennis and a couple other techs told me Dodge is working on a fuel pump retrofit kit to eliminate the lift pump. They were split on wether it will be an in tank pump or external pump like the mini fass. It will be designed as a true bolt on plug in setup. There will not be a recall according to him, but it will be available in the performance parts catalog. I guess that is how DC will get out of admitting has an inferior pump. I can't say if it will happen or not. Just what I was said.

Sounds like you found a good service dept. Hopeful news for us that havn't had to change out a lift pump yet. I carry a spare & when the spare acts up maybe dodge will be onboard with a suitable solution. If not it will be the Rasp for me.
