I know I saw it somewhere, but what would be the desired pressure range for the lift pump delivering to the VP44?

Also any advice on a good shop around Salinas Ut? just in case? I have the Fass in the back almost ready to go. Just had wrist surgery.

Thanks

Sorry for the confusion, I mean for the stock lift pump. I have been noticing down to about 6 hills and flats just today.
The Fass is yet to be installed, I have mounted the bracket and routed the wiring but have yet to get the rest done.

Regardless of make or model of transfer pump, VP44 requires a minimum of 10 PSI fuel pressure at all times (stock fuel lines or larger - who'd want to put smaller lines on to boost pressure anyways). Anything less than 10 is begging for future problems.

It's 10. I worked at a shop that was a Bosch Authorized rebuild and warranty shop and supplied reman VP44s to a large number of dealers and other shops. From the mouth of the Bosch rep, 10 psi minimum.

Dodge and Cummins (not so much with Cummins) decided 5 psi... It was a matter of flow/volume per minute not pressure that was important. BZZZZZZZZT. . Wrong!

But hey, to each their own, and what shop they want to believe.

The only pickup diesel engine that I know of that can live on low fuel pressure is the old Chevy 6. 2 and 6. 5. Anything above 0 psi is acceptable. Typically 2-7 psi.

Before this started, it was 9-11 constantly unless you were lugging and flooring it, then it would drop for 5-10 sec before it caught up.

Well, I got the OEM replaced, still on the fence about installing the FASS, I may just go with a walbro and an Airtex as a back up, both back by the tank. BTW the replacement pump 14-19psi, happy CTD! Thanks for the input. Lot's to do to make these just the way you want them, not much different than any other just more $$$$.

Thanks
