Archived lift pump replacement 12 v 98 3500

help having a hard time getting pump installed the bolts hard to get started pump keeps falling going from top gaskets don,t stay inline and now it,s dark will try on sunday this job looked easy i must sound like a moron if any tips please let me know thank you albert

Studs are the answer, you can also turn the engine over until the lobe in on the low side.

I got the studs and nuts while back and have them in the box with the new pump for when it goes. Cut off the bolt heads and sawed a slot in the top for a screw driver to install in block when needed.
