2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission limited slip additive

What limited slip additive do you add to synthetic lub? I just recently change my gear lub to Royal Purple in my diffs. , but now the rear end pops when I backup and turning at the sametime. When going forward I have no problem. Royal Purple says it already contains the additive. Will the friction additive for Dino Juice work in syn. Also where and what brand do you suggest?

Go to your friendly Dodge dealer's parts counter and pay what they're asking for the MOPAR limited slip friction modifier. Add it gradually, testing (figure 8s, etc. ) frequently. You don't want to use any more than absolutely necessary or you won't have a limited slip rear end!!

LHastings, as Rusty said dont add to much, add until the pop disappears. Ive personaly put to much in my buddys 3/4 ton ctd, he went to the deer lease that weekend, needless to say i got a phone call and had the honors of pulling him out of the mud!!!!!!Jeremy

does it hurt the rearend if you don't put the modifier in at all?

I used RP 85/140 w/o any modifier and still lost my limited slip. I have since switched to Amsoil 75/90 but still no dice. Do you think throwing dinojuice back in, i'll get it back?

I finally wound up adding almost 2oz of additive. It does not clunck anymore and can still lay two balck patches.

Just bought some from the **ealer, $9. 78 is what he quoted me, then he looked up and saw my head shaking back and forth. I replied that I will not pay anything over msrp for it, 2 seconds later he said msrp is $7. 02, I coughed it up.



I'm certain everything at the dealer is a haggle price at this point, weather it's 54k mega bucks cab truck... ... . down to the fm for the rear end. But, OVER msrp? It's like walking on to a VW lot.

Help which rear end, is it Limited slip?

Getting ready for fluid change and a couple of modifications to rear differential. I need to know if I have a limited slip and need modifier on this '01 3500. Where do I check on the vehicle or will this description describe what on it?



The other day I held the brakes on and launched the truck in a blue and black smokeout for my neighbor and his son. The truck left only one sticky rubber dually stripe on the pavement from the right side wheels only for a good 50 yds. ( I let up as it wanted to keep going!!). ==============================



Weather to be nice this week and I am going under the truck.

You should be able to find the "limited slip" option in one of the following places:



1. Sticker on glovebox door.

2. Sticker under the hood.

3. Metal tag on rear differential cover.

4. Mulroney (new vehicle) window sticker.



I used RP 85W-140 synthetic in my 2002 and did not need any supplemental friction modifier. That's not to guarantee that you won't - your clutch pack may be set up tighter than mine. The "tightness" of the LS clutch packs can vary quite a bit, unfortunately.
