I've been experiencing heater core issues for some time now with an occasional faint coolant smell with the heater on. I've also never had very strong air flow from the vents in the 5+ years that I've owned this truck.
Anyway, with highs in the 20's and lows below 0 and a 30 minute drive to work everyday I REALLY need some heat! If I let it sit and idle for extended periods it kinda wants to defrost some but nowhere near what is needed.
I have a piece of cardboard in front the radiator and the temp gauge rests about 190 while cruising down the hwy but I get very liitle air at all through the vents and what there is is lukewarm.
I've been thinking about and putting off doing the heater core/ac core for some but I just wanted to run it by a few others to get any other possible ideas of what else might be wrong. TIA
I also flushed the core out last fall in hopes of increasing air flow to no avail.
