Guess what my old Iowa farmer friends bought....

Warranty Not Valid with Bigger Exhaust on new Fords!

Well like an idiot I desided to wash the salt off my truck when it was 9* out

Yes I used soap .

And by the time I walked around to where I started I had a soap Cube of a truck :{

About $8 to break all the soap ice off with rinse

now the CTD ICE CUBE is out in the drive way

I once attempted to flush the radiator in my old Jeep truck when it was about that cold. Ice all over the driveway.

BTW, it was 75° here yesterday. I don't know why everyone complains about the heat in AZ; I thought it was quite pleasent out.

Better dry those door gaskets really well, maybe wipe them down with silicon spray so the door will open in the am. Man, youse guys got some cold weather.

Having lived in Ohio for 22 years, I can remember those weekend trips to the car wash while being bundled up like an Eskimo! It only took me a few times to learn to take a can of silicone spray and a rag to go over the door gaskets, as well as some WD-40 for the locks! :(

Haven't had that problem since moving back to the Texas Gulf coast, though. :p

Highs in the -20F here. Now that we finally have snow, it was too cold to snowmobile. :{ :{ :{

Hopefully today is the last of the cold. Tomorrow is supposed to get up to a sauna-like 20F! :-laf

Been there , done that. Couldnt get in my truck... . :-laf

So I just took the day off work..... :-laf

I do not think they sell thermometers in Arizona that go that low. We buy ours at the kitchen appliance section on the oven shelf :D .

Been there

Done that. Sometimes a person outsmarts themself. When I had the 70 `cuda, I used to vaseline the dash to protect it during winter "hibernation. " Cold weather sucks! But it probably was hilarious to any spectators. DK.

OK I feal better now

The fact of the soap frezzing never crossed my mind

It just had to wait untill I was on the other side of the truck to frezze up..... lol

I phoned up pappy-in-law the one with a huge HEATED garage and he let me in

About 2 hrs and I flooded his garage ..... dont worry I cleaned it up... . :>

The funny thing is when it started to melt the SOAP ICE CHUNK that was on the roof that I couldnt get blew off @ the wash started to make soap run down the windshield and back glass ... . I ended up toweling my truck off while it was thawing

shes all better now in the drive way here @ home ... nice and DRY

I can remember one really cold year deer hunting when I went back to my truck WITH DOORS LOCKED I could get my key in fine but My hands were sooooooooooo cold They wouldnt turn the key I tried like heck I was 20 miles in the boonies so I had to toughen up and get that key turnt... ... . I keep huffing on my fingers and tring and it would not turn ... ... ... ... . it was sub zero out and the key keep fealing like it was cutting through my fingers..... I ended up wraping the end of my shirt aroung the key and after about 10 tries I was strong enough to turn the key.

the effects of the cold on the human body is very stange ... . wierd things happen

In a toyota I set the e-brake over night ... ... ... ..... you get the rest... . I ended up taking the wheel off and using cutting torches to heat the rotar till it un thawed enough to allow the wheel to turn.

DONT WASH IN THE COLD

DONT LOCK THE DOORS

DONT SET THE E-BRAKE

LOL>>>>>>>>>DM

I bought an "Arizona Ice Scraper" in a convenience store. It's about 1-1/2" long and fits on a key chain. I sent it to a friend in MN. :)

I sometimes have that problem with the semi. If the roads were wet from the day before and then freezes. Usually just on the trailer for some reason. Rarely happens on the tractor.

The trailer gets all the road spray kicked up from the duals on the tractor... . and its out in the wind more.

Tractor duals arent bothered as much by the singles up front--- also stays slightly warmer here from the axles and stuff.

Do it like they do on trains and powerbrake for a short while to warm the brakes up in ice and cold weather. :-laf :-laf :-laf

In really cold weather on a train, sometimes the brakes have to be applied up to a 1/2 mile before the initial application just to get them heated up enough to work well by then. same thing would apply to the drum brakes on a truck... . just not for a 1/2 mile... :D :-laf

The trailer is way back yonder getting blasted with all that crud coming off the drives. Ever notice how nasty looking on average the trailer brakes are relative to the drives? The drives get a bit of heat off the engine too.

Given the right parking situation, sometimes you may not want to set the trailer brakes that night.

The time to put silicon on the door gaskets is before the cold weather comes on. I was reminded of that when my doors stuck shut not long ago.

Klenger,

Ya don't hafta rub it in! Crystal clear West Michigan winter night here. It's zero and the temps are still dropping. Nice crunch to the snow when it is walked on.

Wife and I just went out to the RV to retrieve our Woodalls. Got to find a warm place Florida way to visit over spring break. Still need to get a heavier hitch and a brake control installed on the '01 truck. Still plenty of winter left. If ya hurry, you could get here in time to enjoy some of it. :-laf

Reminds me of the time a friend of mine tee'd me off, about 5* out that night and I threw two 5 gal buckets of water on his truck in his driveway! About broke my neck trying to get away, turned to ice under my feet!!! :D

We were -35c all last week with wind chills in the low forties. We just have to suck it up and drive a dirty truck until it warms up and dries up from the melt down. Got caught once were it dropped from +5c to -25c overnight couldn't get in the truck for 2 days.

I was in Flint, Michigan last week. It snowed on thursday overnight, so on friday I got the bright idea to wash the new truck while on lunch break (we were waiting on concrete to dry). I started out with presoak and then high pressure soap, went over it with the brush (allways wash it out first) and finally rinsed it off. But I wasn't happy enough with the rinse job and I was out of quarters so I walked about half a block to a carry-out and got a pop and the rest of my five in quarters. When I returned the truck had COMPLETELY frozen over. When I tried the hi press rinse it would just freeze back before I could finish blasting the door edges off. Had to wait nearly an hour and half for the attendant to come back so I could get some bucks of HOT water tothay the door enough to get it open. Bad day! :(
