I agree, I need to use my tractor like Big, I have about 12 gallons per minute with it

Nick I don't use the tractor hydraulics, the trailer is self contained with a control that will reach to the trucks drivers seat to operate while moving. I only use the tractor / trailer combo when on a surface where the truck may not have as good traction. The gates on the trailer are adjustable for flow rate which is nice spreading rock on a drive is easy just adjust the gates get in the truck lift the trailer and drive

Yes, my dumps are the same way, Tom and I were just talking smack:D

Interesting redneck way to overcome a overloaded dump trailer. It was working until he broke the scissors frame. I noticed the PJ I ordered has the light weight frame, the same as my Big Tex and Load Trail had. My Lamar has the HD model. Pictures of both.

The twin cylinder is actually an okay system, I think. I have never had one so I am not sure. They are cheaper than a scissors, just the frame is expensive then you add the cylinder. Like jh said, the telescopic is strong because it is only lifting 1/2 the load. Most scissors and twins lift all the load. They are all super slow, especially the telescopic because it is large and travels a long ways. Once you get the first (large) stage up, the second and third go faster.

I can't understand why the dump industry don't address this issue. Surely there are pumps with 2-3 or even more times the flow volume. Maybe it requires too much motor/battery.... I am worried my new trailer will be slow due to the big cylinder on it, same as my Lamar.

Fayette trailers offers a custom dual pump setup. Solves the problem. If I do end up buying I may order the new trailer without a pump and have Fayette install theirs.

Wow - NIsaacs is right - LOT of crappy designs out there. Many have the pins he referenced to open the gate - some have a "cam" style to open the doors, but then a pin to open the spreader.

If I had time, I'd consider building my own, but.....I'm not sure what "time" is anymore. I got so much crap to clean up to move.....sigh.....

When I bought my equipment trailer, I got a smoking deal because it needed "everything". I had to make ramps, replace brakes and drums, new rims, new tires, new hitch, new jack, re-weld the diamond plate on, etc.... Yup it was abused, but I couldn't buy the steel for what I gave for it, so it was worth it. Then I ended up with a new trailer. Don't have time to mess with that option either.....sigh....

WOW - everything I see is either Junk for the price of new, cheaply made trailer that I don't' want for any price, or a scam.

No wonder JR hasn't found anything yet! I'll just keep looking - no rush!

My Son is buying this in the DFW, TX area to use in his house flipping business. Had two 14XL's stolen so he is hoping the gooseneck will be less likely to be stolen! Any suggestions to make it theif proof???

Dexter 10k axles and 17.5" "J" tires plus oil bath are all NICE!!!

He wanted 4' sides but this one has stake pockets so a couple 2x12's will make that happen when it's needed.

Nice, good price too! That is the trailer I have on order. This lock might work, it has the hitch lock and the set screw locks.

A committed thief will always find away. I’d be looking into a LoJack tracking unit. All the equipment rental companies around here put them in generators, welders, etc. they don’t even bother locking them up.

Thats a good idea. Will mention that.

He also said with a wheel lock they just remove the wheel and throw on a new one! He was thinking locking lug nuts.

Bomb proof coupler lock. Can’t tow what you can’t hitch.

Good insurance is the best thou. It’s a tool, insure it for theft and don’t sweat it.

Unfortunately anything will just slow someone down. If a dopehead is determined to steal something, they will succeed, from my experience. A lock just keeps honest, and somewhat honest people, honest. I wish that wasn't the case. There was a youtube video of someone having a LoJack type device on a piece of rental equipment. The unit wasn't returned so they tracked it down and found the LoJack type device in a snowbank. sigh... I know it isn't nice and would probably get a bystander hurt, but I really like the james bond idea - even if it could be remotely detonated when you couldn't find the car. My luck would be I was looking in the wrong parking lot and nothing was really stolen!

However, the more you do to make it hard to steal the more they might look elsewhere to take something else.

For sure he will have insurance on it!

From what I understand you catch someone after dark in TX stealing your stuff it could be very detrimental for the thief.

I guess I need to e-mail some pictures to Lamar. The top, front corners of the dump bed are cracking, the crack is all the way across the top, under the side boards. There is no stress there, the heavy loads never get more than half way up the front. Seems like a really lame place to crack.

It's hard to tell from the picture but the bottom weld looks convexed. Meaning too much weld which puts too much heat into the steel causing excessive shrinking. Sometimes takes a while to show up.
