Tire Load Range Ratings

Dang, seeing my son's new Diamond C trailer might push me over the edge. I have been looking/researching the Diamond C, FMAX208 for some time now and have several quotes. /
As that great American sage Jethro Bodine might say: "Nick, them people has done flung a cravin on you!"

Finally had the safety recall done on my PJ dump, new hydraulic pump and lift cylinder mounting bolts. Round trip to Mesa, 350 miles, 25.4 gal fuel, 13.77 MPG, not bad for 15k gcw.

My Son flips homes in DFW, TX. He was removing a lot of sidewalks and planters and loading them into his nice dump trailer. He knew he had a nice load but didn't know how nice!

Went to the scales and the Lady said "can you tell if anyone else is on the scale". He looked and said no. She gave him a look and said 39,600#. That means the trailer grossed at 30k, just a bit overloaded!

He backed into the concrete dump area and hit the lift button, it just groaned. So he manually unloaded some and then was able to dump it.

He did not get on the freeway but did hit the parallel highway roads with no issues with the braking or handling.

Dang, he took a serious hit! The Mack looks pretty good yet. How did the back of the dump look? I would like to see the gooseneck hitch, to see what/how it broke. The cast iron safety chain attachment sure didn't hang.

I am using the Bulldog BX1 hitch. I wonder if it is any better? I don't think they are built all that well for the upward stress. I assume the dump was empty or lightly loaded?

He will be sore today! Note the "Made in China" on the oem hitch.

Wow, that was one hell of a hit...seems from the photos that the truck frame took on additional load after the gooseneck dump hit the rear receiver hitch.
I was looking at replacing the square tube type on my Kaufman 30', Is that buldog available for square connections also?

Guess I missed that pic. He said it looks like the side of the dump is very wavy. Possibly totaled???

No doubt it was a direct hit. Really happy he wasn't running BobTail.

I am betting the floor has a big ripple back right corner.

Told him last night to go to the ER but later his Gal said he won't go since they require he wears a mask. I told her he wears a mask every time he does demo on a job. Not sure if he went, GRRRRR.

I hope we can get a picture of where/what broke. I assume the bottom latch mechanism broke, maybe cast iron like the safety chain attachment? Not impressed with how that broke. If one or both had not broken, the truck would probably be fine, other than the ball hitch or maybe even the frame where it is attached.

Bulldog does make the square BX1, they claim it is better than oem. It is had to tell now, but maybe with several things breaking/smashing as they took the hit, the "felt" impact to the driver might be less.

I just went and looked, all three of my gooseneck trailers use the same cast iron weld on shackle, not cool.

Im with ya. I was looking into replacing the riser, Kaufman's sells a replacement, just for clarity, are you talking about the cast iron weldment on the riser tube that locks to the ball? I sure would like to see the end of that connection point.

I suggest he gets eyeballs on the truck frame and make sure it didn't start tearing where it bent esp. from the hitches. Did the seat collapse at all?

Most of all he needs to take care of himself. The truck did it's job and frankly is disposable and replaceable... maybe even repairable. Yeah, he is going to feel this tomorrow. Urgent Care or his normal Dr. can check him out. Make sure he takes pictures of any bruises that show up in the next week say from bouncing off the dash etc.

Masks. We all got to suffer with this virus, but, that don't mean we have to be happy about it. Word: he better get medical taken care of in case there is another damn lockdown that puts elective medical procedures off.

No, look at your safety chain attachment on the trailer end. Then look at the first pictures posted of the wreck. You will see the broken part I am talking about, still attached to the chain. Maybe Chris's son will bring that to NATM's attention. That needs changed. Remember this picture, the truck is hanging by one safety chain.
