taxi driver

... quad cab, SWB, auto w/5. 9 engine. Truck has 104,000 on the clock. Anyone have one of these and can provide feedback/what to look for??? Thanks.

2 co-workers each had one.

Co-worker #1 had the sport/off road package and it was a waxed up garage baby. I think he sold it w/ about 30k miles. He didn't have any problems that I can think of.

Co-worker #2 had a 4x4 w/ 4" lift, 33's, nothing much else. He was always having problems. Engine problems, valve issues... He didn't beat on it hard either, it was higher mileage 75k, IIRC.

Nobody else that I know. We all have CTD's :D

My son has the exact same BUT with a 318 and 5 speed

Couldn't afford Mr C at the time... ... at 75,000 he had to replace the Dana 44 rear end - apparently a weak part... . not sure if the 360 had that rear end..... what are they asking for it... ...

I have some friends with 318 and 360 trucks as well and of course they will all have troubles like our Cummins trucks do as they have the same Dodge crap parts that ours do. I have one friend who has even had his front end off the ground jerking on a truck stuck in a ditch and has almost 250,000 on it with the 318 5 speed aand nothing major broken yet. Then another friend of mine had one that blew up 2 engines in 150,000 with the 360, but I think he was harder on it than he let on. I think if you just look for a pampered truck and buy it and continue using it decent you will see lots of life out of it. Regular maintanence is the biggest key with a gasser truck. I have always used Chevy 1/2 tons for my light running around with the best luck. I have a 96 Z-71 ex cab shortie with 278,000 on it and the body is still very nice with no rust holes or bubbles and the only parts I have ever replaced are shocks and done regular maintanence. I hope to run it up to 500,000 miles before I get a different one. You may shrug off getting a different brand but its not about being brand loyal. You have to buy what works best for each particular task. I dont worry about death wobble, ball joints, rear axles, bad injectors, bad fuel pumps and fuel level senders with my Chevy and it cost me the same as a comparible Dodge would have. I love my CTD for everything it does for me and would never consider trading it in for a Chevy Duramax because I know which truck prevails there. Sure it may be brand loyalty that counts with you or maybe just the cool factor of having 2 Dodges in your garage but it really just matters what you want as its your money. I wouldnt be scared to buy a nice pampered Dodge either if I could find one and needed it, but Im happy with what I have right now. Best of luck in your search with whatever you buy. If I can be of any help in your search just let me know.

My aunt has a 00 or 01 1500 w/the 360 4x4 w/the Sport package. She absolutely babied the thing. Wouldnt haul drywall in it because she didnt want the dust in the bed, etc etc. Well they started pulling a camper trailer with it, decent sized one, but come on its a 360 V8 right? Well the engine blew w/some 40,000 miles on it!!!!! It only had a few thousand of pulling the trailer, so I dont think it had anything to do w/the trailer. I have seen old Ford 300 straight sixs pull more than this trailer and not have any trouble. I honestly would stay away from Dodge gassers. Maybe this is the true Ford man in me speaking, but if it doesnt have a Cummins in it, I dont want Dodge's POS truck.

My cousin has a '01 setup similar to what you are looking for. The only problem I know he has had, was with the trim piece (bezel?) for the dash cracked on him. I think it was from his flashing blue light sitting on the edge of it, though. He is a vol. firefighter.

I worked for someone that had a '96 setup the same. Great truck. Didn't have any trouble pulling a loaded 450bu wagon full of beans to town at all. :D
