I'm teetering on the verge of adding DD2's to the EZ on my truck and I would like input from those who have the same kind of setup I do. From what I've been told, the ETH should respond better to the injectors. I just don't want to be disappointed. So far I have been impressed with the improvements made with the addition of the EZ. Thanks

Nocal, do it, but be sure to have a clutch sitting in the closet:eek: .

There have been enough that are running this combo on the ETH that 375HP or so is almost a sure thing. That is a ton of power if you have never driven it!!!! The torque at HP levels like that is mind-boggling, for a while at least:D .

What LSMITH said... I'm running an EZ and DDII's on my 99 5Spd. I've got about a 1000 miles with the DDII's and the new SouthBend Con OFE 13-1. 25 is going in this next week:D May have it dynoed after the clutch is "set. "

My fuel mileage has actually improved... only about 1. 5 mpg, but it's awesome to have that power on tap. Seems to have really woken the machine up at around 2000 rpm and above, compared to the EZ only. Just a seat of the pants feedback. I noticed about a 100 degree rise in peak EGT also. Now it spikes it at around 1150 vs 1050 with just the box. Smokes like crazy at low RPMs with a deep throttle push. Smoke goes away quickly when the boost hits around 10 - 12 psi on the way up

The ez is nice, but the injectors will blow your mind, you will not be dissapointed, like stated earlier, you will nuke the clutch, but believe me it is well worth it. you would never believe a truck that big will move the way it will once the injectors go in. absolutely amazing. Hope the 2's satisfy your needs. i went with 3's thinking they would be all i need, now i want 5's. oh well, guess it never stops;)

As said in earlier posts, "Just Do It" My truck has been this way for over a month and it's been the most fun I've had.

I ran with just an EZ before but with the combination of the DDII's, as Rubberneck said They will "blow your mind!":)

I'll be stickin with my DDII's for a while, however my Comp goes in next week. Oo.

DD II's

It is an awesome setup, but like rubberneck said you may end up wanting more.

I may be interested in selling mine or a trade of some kind, I would like to upgrade to some III's.

Mine dynoed at 318 with this setup, 375 would be hard to come up with.

I posted to the same thread and pushed send. Now I cann't even find the thread or any of my postings this morning. Must be something with the new server service their putting into service.

Again I'm on the opposite side of the clutch thing...

I have DDIIs on my truck + an EZ and it is great! Lots of fun and smoke if you crank your box up. I'd do it for sure! Nothing to complain about. DO IT!!

I've had my DDIIs in for three weeks now and my clutch is fine. No slippage even when I drive like I hate it. I even loaded up a ~9000# trailer last night and pulled it 50 miles up and down hills with no slippage. Even with the box on #3. I have 70k miles on my truck with little or no towing so that might be what is making my clutch last.

I agree that your clutch will eat it someday, but so will the one in any other car/truck.

I was going to wait for DDIIs till I had money for a S/B but now that I have DDIIs in w/out a new clutch, I wouldn't wait around till you had your new clutch in hand.

I have dd2's and a comp and love the combo. I was running 275s and EZ went to the Comp and held off on the dd2s until I got the SBC installed. I had those dd2s in a box for a while and was very proud of my self restraint. ;) I saw some slippage in the upper setting of the Comp with the 275s but thought the 2s would be to much.

The only thing I would say is if you don't already own the EZ go for a comp. The cost is not much more and the incab controls are a definite plus. Having had both the comp is worth the money.

Skipp the II's

Yo! Look here son, just skip the II's and go to the IV's. I liked my II's a lot but when I put the BD-IV's in Holey SMOKE!!! On 5X5 I look like a steam engine pulling a long train up hill. Now I don't just smoke those phourds and chubbies I SMOKE Um!

Oo. :--) Oo. :D

Hey JES!!!

Glad you like the IV's ... . and thanks for your old II's. I'm looking forward to 'em in a big way

Torque This: You should be fine!

Matt

torque this,

Yes!!! way too much for a stock auto transmission and especially if your towing. Been there done that.

My dad has the ez and dd2's on his 01 Auto,it is a nice setup, lots of power, and good for towing,it doesnt get to hot. We did have dd3's in it first,I can tell you the 3's felt stronger than the 20hp on paper that dd claims, with the 3's his truck rocked, dropping back to dd2's was a dissapointment, but the 3's were to much for the hy35,smoke was unbearable. Torque this, you know if you put dd1's and an Ez,you couldnt restrain yourself:D ,your transmission would be smoldering within a week. Once the power is there, its impossible not to try in-once-oh that was fun,and then again, and again, until its fried,i did it. Lets do a VB,and then it will hold for non towing.

Torque This, yes you are asking for trouble. If you do it expect trouble, although it has been done. Driven responsibly for the most part with max pressures the stock VB can give it CAN last a long time. I would not tow more than a small load with the combo.

I guess the short sweet answer is the combo you ask about will give you the power to smoke the transmission in short order. If you run it the damage you do is entirely up to you, the combo can be driven with no damage to the transmission but it REQUIRES very close attention at all times. Set the EZ to the least aggressive setting too, it will help keep some of the torque out until you get heavier throttle positions. Trouble- Yes. Can it be done without instant death - Yes.

OK, so what were saying is that the stock clutch isn't the best for an EZ with DDII's. I'm itchin' for DDII's. Although it will hold up but it all depends on how often you call on the power. I would just like to know if the smoke is that bad when you have an EZ and DDII's (not that I think it's a bad thing). With my EZ (on 3) I can barely see any smoke when shifting normally, but there is a lot if you up shift at low boost and get on her. I like the black haze. :D

I laughted for a good 3 hours after I drove mine with my new II's, the smoke is unbeleiveable. At that time I had the stock exhaust with a staight muffler, after putting on the 4" it cut the smoke in half. You still have to becarful around the bus stops and such, if your into being polite.

With the DDIIs in and the EZ on #3, the smoke will be black as night when you first shift. With it on #2, smoke is there, but not as thick. When you gas on it, the smoke is there, but not as thick as on #3.

If you like smoke, this combo. is your answer.

go for it

I have the EZ box and just installed the BD II's. They are suppose to be good for 80 HP. I do not know which are better the DD's or BD's. I have felt my stock ETH slip a little when passing on the Interstate. But I still can not believe the difference. I am babying it right now til the clutch comes in.

Matter of fact. I pulled to boat to the lake this weekend and pulling the hills it was like pulling empty. Big difference in towing capabilities.

A great combo.
