Looking for stake pocket tie downs - anyone seen these?

I'm looking for some pop up stake pocket tie downs like these:

Only problem is that I don't want them in chrome - would prefer black. Has anyone seen any like them and have a source? Thanks in advance.

I have the bull rings that Tom suggested- they are very strong and withstand alot of abuse. As far as a completely black, I've never seen the ring itself black. the pop up type that Steve pictured in the bottom are garbage. I had them on my 96 and they are flimsy, and the pop up mechanism didn't last long.

Kev

I'm agree with Kev about the ones in the bottom pictures. My son put a pair on his truck and 2 of them broke the first time he used them. They will not handle any kind of load, are good only for using bungee cords IMO.

Don't know about the other ones.

Stan

I've found that the ones on top are now available in black chrome. They are made by PUTCO out of stainless steel and are rated at 1,000 lbs each. The bottom ones don't have any weight ratings listed and the bull ring ones are rated at 450 lbs. Has anyone used the PUTCO style shown at the top? They'll be used mostly for strapping down street bikes (~500-600 lbs). Thanks for the info so far guys.

I've got the ones in the link above. They are also black with the chrome rings. I've seen them for sale at Walmart since getting mine. I picked them up at a specialty hitch shop. They work well and hold solid.

I am using the bull rings and the stake pocket part is black but not the rings. They have worked quite well. Been on for 50k+ miles and still work and look as good as new.

Paul, how sturdy are they? They are about half the cost as the PUTCO ones. I'll be using them to tie down two street bikes (~500-600 lbs) - do you think there would be any problem with them breaking?

Steve, I've used them quite often (lots of lumber, appliances, etc. ) and never had any trouble with them. I use medium sized ratchet straps, so I put a decent load on them. As long as you make sure they are screwed in tight to the truck, you shouldn't have a problem. When I put mine on I also installed diamond plate bed rail caps that had a protective foam underneath. For the first couple of months I had to periodically tighten the hooks, but that was because the foam underneath the bed rail caps was relaxing. I haven't had to tighten them any since.

Steve,

Have you looked at the Ancra tie down mounts? They use a similar ring to the hi-lift version but instead of a rail they use a 'button' mount. I've installed them on 3 trucks and have had very good luck with them - I haul dirtbikes. I installed the on the vertical surface of the stake pocket just below the bed rail. I have a set of plastic bed rail caps so the bull rings or other stake pocket mounted types don't work right for me. If DC would get smart and offer bed rails with matching hooks.....

I can send you pics if you want.

Brian

I just looked at them Brian but they aren't what I'm looking for. I really want to anchor to the top of the bed because I often have two bikes in the back of the truck and the floor doesn't work well. The stake pockets are wide open with the new tonneau cover I have so they are a perfect place to go to.
