I just bought a lifted 2001 24v with 120000 miles. In really nice shape. Has banks high ram with heater delete, a 4” banks monster muffler, a lift pump, and I have a fuel pressure gauge set up. Thats all I have really noticed that the original owner has done. I am brand new to diesels so what I have looked up and found out is that I should really look into is buying a fass or airdog fuel pump, a cold air intake, and I would like to eventually have a tuner and monitor, and also maybe a new exhaust (possibly straight pipe). I have been looking into banks cold air intakes, and banks or edge tuners and monitors. What do you guys think I should do? I am not towing anything at all and I would like the truck to have a little get up if you know what I mean.

Gauges
transmission if Auto, with lower stall torque converter.
Edge EZ or Comp without tapping the pump
If it has the HY35 turbo, something that will move a little more air, spool fast. I did a PDR35-12W
RV or other stage one injector.

Chassis:
Steering box brace
Track bar upgrade

Here is a thread on my old 2001.5 build. It was very drivable, quick and reliable.

This sounds nearly identical to my truck and what I’ve had done on the exact same model year.

Have the manual trans so no changes needed other than larger Mag-Hytec covers with cooling fins and a trans temp probe just to know what’s going on.

Also replaced a lot of worn out bushings in the steering besides the track bar and other upgrades.

OMG talk about an opportunity to receive all kinds of comments LOL = Looking for advice. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Gauges for sure = fuel psi, boost/get and trans temp (assuming auto). To the auto trans or if a stick = weak links: Auto needs to be done up “before” Bombing any more. As well if a stick, the clutch will slip and go into meltdown after Bombing - you might get lucky for a while but doubtful. Protect and monitor what you have presently then plan Bombs “after” addressing weak links. My $0.02
