Competition New Class?

Competition Due to Heavy Denver Snow: New Dragster

I have seen this truck many times!!!! It does spool just like stock!!!! He has towed with this setup often as he is a landscaper.

He just needs to step down a class.

I believe he was bitten by the efi live bug, and it took his engine.

That fella goes by the name of "importkilladuramax" over on the DP :-laf

It might spool like stock since he's using the stock (small) charger for the top. It's thought that using the stock charger like that is what is only allowing him to make 50 hp over what you can do with the stock charger alone. The stock charger turbine is just way too small to let the whole thing breathe like it needs to.

The story I heard is that it's a young guy who does landscaping for a living, and he drives it every day just like that, hood stacks, smoke, noise, and all.

Ain't Ohio a great place to live? :D

Dont you mean Duracrap!, Never understood why izuzu(GM) built such a capable engine to put in chevys and gmc's and have it grenade with a little modding, like they didnt know what people were going to put it through, they just have to face the facts and realize it will never be a CUMMINS!

Um..... ok!

Looks to me like another "Cummins" Lemming that is too brand bias to admit that the Dmax is a tough competitor.

To keep this thread on topic the truck in question runs (or at least did :D ) very well for no more than was done to it. I agree that the hood stack is a bit much for a street truck but IMO stacks in general are just for those who want to play Billy Big-Rig'r.

As far as "a little modding" goes, I don't feel that EFI Live completely falls into that category since, unlike anything available for the Cummins, you can get carried away pretty easy and break some parts.

I agree it's not the ideal twins setup, however he does have an external wastgate which would help with the backpressure the stock turbo would create. How is this setup any different than the Arctic Air kit from Relentless Diesel for the Dodge than also uses the stock charger? From what I've seen the Dmax does better performance wise with the stock charger than the newer dodges can do ('03 and up). I know on my '05 the stock charger was a HUGE restriction.

I believe that the D-maxes stock charger has a bigger inlet than ours dose,(not quite sure what size it is) and is able to move alittle more air, their stock charger dose a great job for them when modded!

Exactly. Some people think EFILive is a "git-r-tooned" kit and it is not.

Granted, the more massive Cummins parts would let you get away with a lot more, but a product like that for the Dodges could yield similar results. It takes two keystrokes to advance the timing into the big ugly.

Sorry fella, i do like the duramax quite a bit actually and i love my cummins, it is a good motor, you need to read what i said, most of the guys running big numbers with them have grenaded one already(not saying all of them). Like the one here he has destroyed one already, just saying why build such a capable motor that can't run high HP numbers and hold up. My buddy just bought an 07 the other day and it runs great with the stock 360 advertised hp and the allison, and i told him it does get up and go and i liked it alot, just don't take it like im knocking the duramax. How many do you see that are running 600hp plus on stock internals, not many at all and the ones that do have built motors to last, just my $. 02

Actually there is a local d-max with all stock internals, stock head gaskets, stock head bolts, stock turbo/injectors, running 2 PPE's and some spray. Made 717 at ATS last year on the spray, corrected. I think 618 un corrected.

Thats pretty impressive, dont see to many dodges making 600+ uncorrected with just spray and a chip.

Oh, and the truck has 118,000 hard miles on it too. Runs 12. 8 or so.

I just want to get this straight. Because the Dmax (like most other engines) were not designed to run double the rated hp using stock parts you feel that it should should not have been built?
