just installed my dss tonight. nice unit. made my front end feel much tighter. all of the play in the second intermediate steering shaft in 60,000 mi is gone... ...

problems:

i didn't have a 1. 25" deep well socket. i cranked on the new shaft with a crescent wrench... .

the 4 new bolts that came with the unit to replace the existing bolts in the anti-sway bar were the same size.

the new bolts came with 2 washers. i only used the split washers as that was the configuration when i pulled the old ones out.

everyone should look into one of these. well worth the money.

does anyone see any problems with what i have done? thanks. scott.

Scott, if I remember right the holes on the DSS are elongated for adjustment. Without the flat washers your bolts won't have as much surface area to clamp down on. I'd install the flat washers one at a time, everything will stay in place, should be an easy job.

DDS

Installed DDS bar yesterday, Haven't driven much yet, not any in fact. I,m a little concerned about clearance if I have to use any heavier front end parts. Are there going to be any problems that anyone knows about? jps

Other people working on my truck

Recently had dealer replace power steering pump and steering gear to correct drive-ability problems, both under warranty. Installed my new DSS last night. Went to remove OEM nut from steering gear. :--) It was nearly finger loose:--) Definitely not 185 ft/lb torqued.

I guarantee you it is tight now :D :D :D

Only have 25K on rig, but the DSS makes the steering feel more responsive and tighter. You just can't appreciate what Darin's bar can do until you have driven one on a truck.

Getting ready to pull this weekend. Hard to tell what could have/would have happened with the nut just falling off.

I had the same experience with my '99 as HOCummins01 did. Could have almost removed the original pitman arm nut by hand.

DSS really helped my steering. Great product! :)

I mailed my check on May 2 and received my parts on May 21. Took all of 30 minutes to install. A short road test showed I will have to modify my steering habits. I couldn't be happier with the part quality, functionality and ease of installation.

Mailed mine on 4/24/03 got it on 5/20/03, will probably install this weekend.

Darin/Marv are these powder coated now?

front hitch

Anybody know if these things can be built with a front hitch on them or will they work with other front hitch's. I would really like both.

Thanks

I know this is in the thread someplace but the thread has gotten so big it is hard to follow anymore. Can someone PM me with the info for where to send my check. I have done everything I can I'm ready to take the plunge

Help! This is what I need for my 2002, but I can not see any of the pictures posted of this "fix. " When you get to the link in the firsd post, what then??

PITBULL SAYS

Just an update

I just wanted to restate this information for those that want to order and not go clear back through the entire thread. My reason is that I've personally gotten several emails asking how to order and the price. This is the latest information I have if it is not current someone please correct me.

$139. 00 plus $22. 00 shipping=$161. 00

You can send a check to:

Darin Tessier

Box 301 Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada

S4H 2K1

It will take around 30 days from the time you mail your check until you get your DSS. I also included my truck description and where I wanted my DSS mailed. Hope this helps.

I am not affiliated, just a happy customer.

I'll tender my tuppence as well.

I installed my DSS t'other day. The bump steer has vanished. The truck now goes where I aim it without requiring constant correction.

It was money well spent!

Also, took it down to the local alignment shop. Old man there, who's been in the business for a goodly number of years, had never seen anything even remotely like it, and allowed as to how it would correct the steering problems on virtually all 4x4 pickups, which all suffer from premature wear on the sector shaft bearings. I need to dig up contact info for him.

Not a myth. Pictures are posted at the beginning of the thread somewhere. I did a search for Yelloweyes and came up with it, though I dont remember who posted them.

I have 107,000 miles on my 01. 5. It has been wandering since new and finally found the fix!!!!!!!!! This thing is the cure.

Now I really get to enjoy driving the truck.

Everyone seems to think that you can just go back to the original post to see this thing, but when you follow the link in that post, it takes you to a site that says "User account disabled. " Not much help. I guess there are no pictures anywhere. :(

I found a picture of the thing installed. PM me your email address and I will send it over. It is a . bmp file, so it can't be posted here.

Too much peer pressure

I hope that is a good excuse.

I just placed an order for one of these with Piers. Now I just need some way to camouflage it so I can say "No that... it's not new it has been there a while. "

Again ... does anyone have any pictures of this thing, or is it all a myth??

I took some pics of the right end of the installed device for Rob Thomas; he wanted to know if his front receiver could still be mounted with the DSS installed.

Go to http://murent.us/dss/dss.html

I'll take some more pics and post them there in a day or so.
