I added two bottom view pictures of the fix. Check link above. Hit the right arrow for the additional three photos. SNOKING

Ok, I did another road test Saturday morning on I5 in North end of Seattle, which is not in very good shape. It appears to have taken out most of the bumpsteer that occurs when you hit a ruff spot in the road. Before if you were in a slight turn and hit a uneven place in the road you would get a small flopping in the front end for a second or two. This seems to be gone. Again, I only have 13K on my 2001. 5, so it was not wonderring around on the road or anything. I am happy with the product and plan on keeping the truck for a lot of years, so it should help keep the front end tight. SNOKING

Thanks for the added pictures. I was wondering about the grease fitting. The new views show it clearly.

Great pix in general.

Am awaiting my order also.

Took off the Les Schwab Load Range D snowtires and put on the Michelins today. Forgot how much ruffer the Michelin 265 load range E tires ride. SO I disconnected the rear sway bar after making an adapter for my steering wheel puller to get the lower end of the link on the drivers side loose. Just did a road test with the sway bar disabled and it does make a noticeable improvement in ride. I am thinking about some kind of quick disconnect-connect setup. Something like a sliding link that can be pinned when one wants the sway bar operational. SNOKING

Question;

I would like to do this modification, but I have my by-pass oil filter mounted on the rear of the front frame crossmember. It does not protrude below the cross member, but extends 4 inches or a little more to rear of the cross member.

Can any of you tell me whether they would conflict, or whether there would likely be room to change the by-pass filter??

Thanks

No clearance problem on mine .

Just installed my new steering bracket, Man that nut was on there!! But now my lower plow brace will not fit (Western) so I pulled off the bracket until I can get the plow brace modified to allow the blue bearing to fit with the plow brace installed.

BUT!!! what a difference my steering like night and day!! As soon as I can get pictures I will try to post them.

Vaughn [merryman]. . the top of the brace fits even with the bottom of the frams on each side [bolts under the sway bar brackets]... to the front it is still below the frame bottom. . hope that helps your question. .

IMHO if it doesn't fit do to your bypass mount position ... change the mount location of the bypass system... it's well worth the effort.

Does anybody know if this cures the dreaded "Death Wobble"?

I had my front end aligned per the spec's on Dave Fritz's site, and it went away for a while. Now it's coming back. I can push on the side of the truck and get the whole front end clattering back and forth, most of the slop is in the steering box and drag link (this is being replaced as well..... )

Not sure on the current wait... my check went out somewhere around the 18th of Feb, and just got confirmation yesterday that it had finally been received (don't think it took that long, they just finally responded that it had shown up). Also said that they would ship mine ASAP, so I figure they finally got everything lined out again... story had been they've been waiting on one part or another off and on.

Can't wait to see if it'll get rid of the 75k worth of slop in the steering... even just 50% would make it worth it's weight in gold.

Snowracer69,

I took out some of the slop just by adjusting the steering box. The new track bar took out most of the rest. Will be installing this fix, this weekend.

QUESTION: Since I have removed my front sway bar for powder coating anyway (among MANY other projects currently under way), and am patiently awaiting delivery of my steering brace assembly as well (ordered last month), I was wondering...

are longer mounting bolts provided? [these would replace the (front) sway bar mounting bolts]

TIA, John

Thanks Ed.

Not to be a PITA but (specifically)...

are the four OE sway bar bolts retained or are new bolts provided?

The reason I ask is because I was seeking longer replacements however, I wanted flange-head bolts, gold-zinc plating with at least the OE 10. 9 grade rating. In the 1. 5 MM thread pitch it is like looking for the Holy Grail.

PS: I'm also adding the Energy Suspension polyurethane sway bar bushing kit at the same time.
